Terraria State of the Game - June 2026
Greetings Terrarians!Another month in the books! It has been a hectic one indeed, between work on 1.4.5.7, doing some interviews for the Design Works book, getting ready for some upcoming events in the fall, and more. We are very ready to get what we hope will be the last (or darn close to it) hotfix update for Bigger and Boulder into your hands and then to get rolling on what comes next. Crossplay and beyond, the future is going to be a fun one. Before then, we are getting ever closer to wrapping up what has to be the largest "hotfix" type update in Terraria's history. We do think the time taken will be well worth it, as we are trying to tackle a number of outstanding topics at once. Of course, we will see what you make of it and cannot wait to hear that feedback. All that said, let's see what lies in wait for this months State of the Game...PC - RE-LOGICTERRARIA 1.4.5.7 - THROWING LINES... This premium book will chart the design and development of Terraria from its inception back in 2011 through to today, written by Christian Donlan.
Now you can dig into the game’s development itself with Terraria: Design Works. Based on in-depth interviews with Andrew Spinks, the singular individual who created Terraria, along with the fascinating team who have worked with him to keep the game thriving for the last fifteen years, this is the story of a game developed with passion, ingenuity, imagination and generosity.
It’s easy to lose yourself in Terraria when playing, and now you’ll discover the challenges of charting a development course through such a rich, sprawling, and surprising game. You’ll meet the people who have worked with Spinks to evolve his original design, and you’ll come to understand where many of Terraria’s legendary elements come from, whether that’s a biome, an end-game monster or just a really cool sword!
Packed with behind the scene insights, developer interviews and never seen before content, the book is available standalone or as part of a Deluxe Edition complete with a treasure trove of Terraria goodies.

Hello Terrarians!
Chris here, lead developer at Paper Fort Games. In this month’s Terraria: The Board Game designer diary, we’ve got a quick recap of UKGE 2026 and a reminder about Terraria: The Board Game – Plantera Awakens!
---
TERRARIA: THE BOARD GAME AT UKGE
From Friday 29th to Sunday 31st May, the Paper Fort Games team were at UK Games Expo in Birmingham, UK. It was incredible to meet so many of you in person and to hear about your adventures with the game. It was also a fantastic chance to introduce the game to Terraria fans who were seeing the game for the first time!
UKGE GIF.gif
It was the biggest UKGE ever, with 87,837 attendees, and it felt like it! A huge thank you to Matt for sorting the event logistics, and to our wonderful booth staff who worked tirelessly to share our games with convention-goers!

TERRARIA: THE BOARD GAME - PLANTERA AWAKENS!
In case you missed last month’s update - we’re delighted to announce that we’re expanding the world of Terraria: The Board Game to include Hardmode!
Plantera Awakens will be the first of two Hardmode expansions, splitting the onward adventure into pre-Plantera and post-Plantera boxes. The expansion will feature a quick-start scenario binder, events, new biomes, your favourite pre-Plantera bosses, and much more.
We’ll also be incorporating features requested by backers over the past few months (and some suggestions all the way back from the original campaign; we keep a list!).
Alongside a huge range of Hardmode enemies, equipment, and areas to explore, one of our major goals is to make games faster and easier to tailor in difficulty. You’ll be able to begin Hardmode with suggested class-specific loadouts, while new ‘break-out’ boards will allow exploration of Sky Islands, preparation of pre-boss arenas, and more.
There’s a lot we’re excited to show you, and we’ll be sharing more details over the coming months via the expansion Kickstarter preview page:
