It feels good to see you again. Cost of Hope is our first major expansion for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and, in many ways, it feels like welcoming another member into the family. It carries the same DNA and the same love for the Zone, while telling a story that proudly stands on its own.This adventure dives deep into one of the most iconic conflicts in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe — Duty and Freedom. It expands the Saga's lore, answers long-awaited questions, and hopefully leaves you with even more by the time it's over.To tell that story, we brought to life some of the Zone's most legendary locations: the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the Iron Forest, and the Spatial Bubble, to mention some. Recreating them while making them feel fresh and authentic has been one of the most rewarding creative challenges we've ever taken on.Throughout the Cost of Hope's development, we allowed ourselves to experiment more. To take risks. To surprise. Sometimes that meant trying things we'd never attempted before. Sometimes it meant making bold creative decisions simply because we believed they would make the experience more memorable. Above all, we wanted to create something that would genuinely excite long-time fans of the series. Listening to players' feedback and updating the game regularly since November 2024, we’ve poured massive systemic updates into the game — overhauling A-Life, combat tactics, and the economy, while introducing whole new mechanics like Night Vision, Offset Aiming, and Mutant Harvesting. Free updates have brought hours of fresh story quests, an expanded arsenal, and the major stability leaps of Build 1.7 — and all the changes are simply impossible to squeeze into this space.Now, that journey is crowned with Update 2.0 and Unreal Engine 5.5.4, bringing the biggest overhaul to how the Zone looks, feels, and lives since launch. In addition, Update 2.0 introduces AI improvements, three types of binoculars, new weapons and attachments, a fog weather system, in-game statistics, highly customizable difficulty settings, and numerous quality-of-life features.If you've been waiting for the right moment to experience the Zone for the first time — or to return after your original playthrough — we genuinely believe this is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 at its very best.Over the years, you've shared millions of stories, screenshots, videos, streams, mods, discoveries, theories, and unforgettable moments.
