Strange Scaffold announces anime driving game Truck-Kun is Supporting Me From Another World?!
Developer Strange Scaffold has announced a new anime driving game, Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! Strange Scaffold is known for developing the games I Am Your Beast, Clickolding and El Paso, Elsewhere. The studio’s new title will be a vehicular action game where the player acts as a truck that transports or “isekais” people into a fantasy anime universe. In a statement, Strange Scaffold described Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! as “an anime-inspired game about smashing through objects at high speed to power up the corporate ladder climber you accidentally isekai’d into a dangerous medieval fantasy world.” The title is inspired by the anime and manga subgenre of Isekai, in which characters find themselves in parallel universes. The upcoming game “will revel in its own absurdism while simultaneously grounding itself with sharp satire that reflects real life,” per Strange Scaffold’s press release. https://www.youtube.com/embed/Iujy19OLvuc?feature=oembed As far as the setting and story go, players start their journey with Carissa Ward, who is about to start a new job as VP of marketing in the sunny coastal town of Wenvale. That plan is cut short when she’s struck by a delivery truck and awakens in the fantasy world of Talinfold. To get home, she must unlock the Galactic Gate, defeat the Skeleton King, and claim his Scroll of Resurrection. The gameplay will see Carissa dodge cops, make deliveries, and smash through objects in the chaotic small town of Wenvale as she completes objectives across two worlds to power up a Galactic Gate with stars and unlock a subversive, heartwarming story rooted in a love for anime. The title will feature a lively ska-inspired soundtrack by award-winning composer David Mason (Dredge, Creepy Redneck Dinosaur Mansion 3), adding to the surreal energy of the title. Truck-kun is Supporting Me From Another World?! launches on PC via Steam later this year.
