Nintendo leaker says new ‘classic style’ Star Fox game, Zelda: Ocarina of Time remakes are coming this year
Fox McCloud will follow up his appearance in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this year with a new game of his own, according to a prominent leaker's new report. Noted Nintendo insider NateTheHate said on a new podcast episode today that a "classic style" Star Fox game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this summer, and it will also include online multiplayer. This would mark the first new game in the Star Fox franchise since 2016's Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, so it's been a long time coming. Image via Platinum Games But the excitement doesn't end there. The insider also said The Legend of Zelda franchise will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in a massive way: with an "Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2." The extent of the remake is unclear, but it appears to be a bigger undertaking than 2011's 3DS remake of one of the most beloved games ever made. Zelda's 40th anniversary passed last month, but the festivities will be ongoing over the next year, as is the same for Super Mario and his own anniversary since last year. But NateTheHate says that fans should not expect a 3D Mario title this year, unfortunately, but it will be coming some time in 2027. NateTheHate says that the new Star Fox may be revealed soon, and that "the visuals are supposed to be very good." With the Switch 2's hardware, the expectations for graphics and framerate are higher than ever, and with a potential multiplayer spaceship combat game, we may be seeing some of the best the console has to offer yet. Fox McCloud making an appearance in the new Super Mario movie and then having his own game follow soon after sounds similar to what happened in the original film, when Nintendo revealed a controversial redesign for Donkey Kong and then eventually launched Donkey Kong Bananza a few years later. If true, I feel like they will both yet again be system-sellers for the Switch 2, so make sure you grab one while you can before they fall victim to a price hike like the PS5.
