Just how reliable is this massive shield that grows tougher as it is pushed to the limit?

The core design of the White Plume Guards revolves around \[Resolve].

When defending and killing enemy units within a strategic point, they gradually accumulate \[Resolve]. As \[Resolve] increases, the pressure-bearing capacity of the White Plume Guards also improves.

This means that when commanding the White Plume Guards, you will experience an intense and thrilling tug-of-war on the frontline.

The "White Plume Guards" did not leave many traces in historical texts. Zhuge Liang once referred to Liu Bei's white-plumed troops as "Shu's finest." This serves as our most crucial historical anchor in shaping the White Plume Guards:

According to historical records, the founding emperor of Shu Han was fond of making plumed ornaments. He often wove yak tail hair into plumes to gift to friends and personal guards. Over time, these guards began wearing these plumed ornaments on their armor, thereby earning a new name: the White Plume Guards.

As a 5-Star heavy shield Unit, the absolute core of the White Plume Guards is "defense."

But this "defense" isn't merely standing still with raised shields.

The White Plume Guards need to advance to crucial tactical positions early, accumulating advantages through blocking, securing kills, and capitalizing on ability timings. When the enemy begins their heavy frontal assault, they can stabilize the line using a shield wall; when the enemy gets right in their faces, they can deliver a hard counter with Shattering Bash; and when the situation is pushed to the absolute limit, they can activate their fight-to-the-death state, holding a collapsing defensive line for just a little longer.

What makes this Unit unprecedented lies exactly here: they transform heavy shields from mere damage-sponges into a tactical fulcrum capable of counterattacking, stalling, and buying critical windows of opportunity for the battle.

During the "Three Kingdoms - Warlords Rising" season, the Leadership required by the White Plume Guards is reduced by 10 points.

When the White Plume Guards kill enemy units or defend within a strategic point, they continuously accumulate \[Resolve]. The higher their \[Resolve] gets, the less damage the Unit takes.

White Plume Guards in their fight-to-the-death state cannot participate in capturing or contesting strategic points.

The fight-to-the-death state allows them to hold the line under extreme conditions to buy time for allies; however, it does not mean unconditional point possession. If allies fail to return and reinforce in time, the White Plume Guards cannot secure a strategic point for the team alone, even if they fight to the bitter end and refuse to retreat.

They can block the path, but victory still requires the team to fight together.

White Plume Defense is the core method for the White Plume Guards to hold the front.

Upon command, the White Plume Guards lock their shields together, forming a stable defensive line ahead. Against frontal enemy pushes, this shield wall absorbs the initial pressure, making it especially useful for key areas like gates, point edges, and narrow choke points.

When deployed in the right spot, enemies must invest significantly more troops, skills, and time to break through this wall in order to proceed.

And that window of time often presents the perfect opportunity for allies to return to defend, for ranged units to add damage, or for a flanking maneuver.

If White Plume Defense is about "holding firm," Shattering Bash is all about "pushing back."

When enemy troops have already pressed up against the shields, the White Plume Guards will thrust their heavy shields forward, disrupting the enemy's rhythm in the most direct way possible. The closer the enemy gets, the more oppressive this strike becomes.

In positions like point edges, choke points, or gates, the value of Shattering Bash becomes immensely obvious. It helps the White Plume Guards carve back compressed space and grants allies the chance to reposition.

As for exactly how devastating this shield bash is, we'll leave that for Warlords to experience in actual combat.

When the White Plume Guards ignite their accumulated \[Resolve], they enter a brief fight-to-the-death state. During this phase, they use their final ounce of willpower to brace the frontline, buying time for allies to reinforce, retreat, or counterattack.

Naturally, this near-immortal mechanic comes with a clear cost: while in this state, the Unit does not participate in strategic point contesting.

Its true purpose is to forcefully pry open a window of opportunity from a collapsing situation. Whether allies can catch up and capitalize on this final breath is what ultimately determines the value of their fight to the death.

\[Long Live the Han] can trigger the fight-to-the-death state when the White Plume Guards' health drops below a specific threshold.

This Doctrine leans toward enhancing their fail-safe capabilities, allowing them to carve out one final reaction window for the team even when suppressed to the absolute limit. It is ideal for Warlords who want the White Plume Guards to shoulders the responsibility of the ultimate final line of defense.
