Kuldra's Saga - An Update From Mod Dutch

Hello Adventurers! It is I, Mod Dutch, come to you with a message about the future of Dragonwilds. Hold on, sheath that sword, ease your bowstring and pause casting that water spell, I assure you, it is good news!TL;DR: Our 1.0 release on September 15th is not the end of Dragonwilds. Far from it.Ever since it became clear that there was high enthusiasm for a survival game set in the RuneScape franchise, we’ve been diligently planning (oftentimes cackling with glee) what comes next. Mod Rook, our intrepid Creative Director, together with Mod Raven, envisioned a satisfying wrap-up to the story of the Dragon Queen Kuldra to coincide with our game exiting Early Access, so that RuneScape and survival fans who had been holding off until this point, could experience the complete story from beginning to end.At Jagex we look at our RuneScape titles as ongoing projects, always. They are never done, because they continuously evolve. That has been the way for twenty-five years of adventuring on Gielinor. Changes, fixes, overhauls, new content, amazing new sagas, new raids, new bosses, new quest areas – it’s a continuous flow of updates, informed by the players’ opinions and feedback. This is deeply ingrained in the DNA of Jagex.Given that we’re always adapting our plans and figuring out the best way to get great content into the hands of our fans and potential new players, we see development of Dragonwilds as a long voyage with many epic stages, many cycles, and many sagas. It is the one big thing that thrills us so much about this being a RuneScape game – there are always more new features to develop, more homages to pay, more stories to tell.I recently spoke about the future of Dragonwilds in the Runefest 2026 Preview Livestream. You can find it on Twitch, at the 1 hour and 28 minutes mark.Let me reiterate here (paraphrased), what I said there, because it is easy for a message to get lost in a livestream covering multiple games:Shipping into 1.0 is a major milestone for us because it concludes the Kuldra Saga with the players going into the Scorned Wilderness raid and defeating her.It is the end of her story but it’s not the end of the story of Ashenfall and how it is still hidden and unknowable to the rest of Gielinor. It could be a new frontier of civilization, but its ancient magics still block that. This is where we are going to develop our story further and it is going to be a multi-year journey.More information will be revealed closer to launch, with even more coming at Runefest in October. In short: yes, the game world will grow in the future, yes there will be more of everything coming (skills, quests, regions, bosses, enemies, rewards), as we continue into this unexplored stretch of the Sixth Age - and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates.Mod Dutch

Kuldra's Saga - An Update From Mod Dutch
Hello Adventurers!

It is I, Mod Dutch, come to you with a message about the future of Dragonwilds. Hold on, sheath that sword, ease your bowstring and pause casting that water spell, I assure you, it is good news!

TL;DR: Our 1.0 release on September 15th is not the end of Dragonwilds. Far from it.

Ever since it became clear that there was high enthusiasm for a survival game set in the RuneScape franchise, we’ve been diligently planning (oftentimes cackling with glee) what comes next. Mod Rook, our intrepid Creative Director, together with Mod Raven, envisioned a satisfying wrap-up to the story of the Dragon Queen Kuldra to coincide with our game exiting Early Access, so that RuneScape and survival fans who had been holding off until this point, could experience the complete story from beginning to end.

At Jagex we look at our RuneScape titles as ongoing projects, always. This is deeply ingrained in the DNA of Jagex.

Given that we’re always adapting our plans and figuring out the best way to get great content into the hands of our fans and potential new players, we see development of Dragonwilds as a long voyage with many epic stages, many cycles, and many sagas. It is the one big thing that thrills us so much about this being a RuneScape game – there are always more new features to develop, more homages to pay, more stories to tell.

I recently spoke about the future of Dragonwilds in the Runefest 2026 Preview Livestream. You can find it on Twitch, at the 1 hour and 28 minutes mark.

Let me reiterate here (paraphrased), what I said there, because it is easy for a message to get lost in a livestream covering multiple games:

Shipping into 1.0 is a major milestone for us because it concludes the Kuldra Saga with the players going into the Scorned Wilderness raid and defeating her.

It is the end of her story but it’s not the end of the story of Ashenfall and how it is still hidden and unknowable to the rest of Gielinor. It could be a new frontier of civilization, but its ancient magics still block that. This is where we are going to develop our story further and it is going to be a multi-year journey.

More information will be revealed closer to launch, with even more coming at Runefest in October.

In short: yes, the game world will grow in the future, yes there will be more of everything coming (skills, quests, regions, bosses, enemies, rewards), as we continue into this unexplored stretch of the Sixth Age - and beyond.

Stay tuned for more updates.
