It seems even Sony thinks a new GTA 6 trailer is right above the corner as marketing campaign begins to ramp up

As the month of May slowly ticks away, it appears that Sony and Rockstar are starting up the marketing machine. PlayStation 4 owners who wishlisted GTA 6 have begun receiving emails from Sony urging them to hop onto the next generation of consoles to enjoy what's probably going to be the biggest game of all time. And of course, many are taking this as a direct sign that something related to Rockstar's latest is just around the corner. Earlier this month, our Scott Duwe wrote that Take-Two Interactive's earnings call is scheduled for May 21, which many GTA fans have taken to mean that a trailer is bound to drop prior to that date. Rockstar Games being the biggest company under Take-Two's management and GTA itself being the most profitable piece of entertainment of all time, it would make sense to bump the stock up just a little bit with some bonus attention and, what's very likely, over a hundred million views on YouTube alone. Now that is starting to seem more and more likely since those who own a PS4 and wishlisted GTA 6 on its store are being emailed by Sony, which is trying to get them to purchase a PlayStation 5, given that the game won't launch on the last-gen console at all. On top of that, Sony and Rockstar are in a confirmed marketing partnership, as Kotaku writes, and that is only fanning the flames of excitement among fans, especially those who received the emails. https://twitter.com/videotech/status/2052858385117094097 GTA 6 has had two trailers so far, but neither showed us what is most important: the gameplay. While we've grown accustomed to a particular Rockstar Games formula over nearly two decades now, it'd nonetheless be nice to see what innovations or changes Rockstar has made to its approach since 2013. We're yet to see more of the story or truly grasp what the game is about, other than it being set in Vice City and its pair of protagonists apparently inspired by Bonnie and Clyde. A third trailer, then, would answer all these questions and generate additional hype for the game, set to come out on Nov. 19. A trailer reiterating that release date would also dispel justified worries that the game will be delayed yet again, since Rockstar has earned a reputation for that sort of thing, too. With Sony now, for some reason, starting to create hype for the game, I'm inclined to believe the tinfoil-hat theory of the third trailer ahead of May 21. We won't know for certain until it actually happens (unless Rockstar gets another leak), but as things stand, odds are that we're going to be traveling to Vice City, if briefly, within the next couple of weeks. But until then, we can play the second trailer on repeat and push it to 160 million views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQRLujxTm3c The post It seems even Sony thinks a new GTA 6 trailer is right above the corner as marketing campaign begins to ramp up appeared first on Destructoid.
