Airedale & Wharfedale Network: Leeds & Bradford - Skipton & Ilkley

Make way for the north of England and hurry through the quaint commuter hills of Yorkshire; the complex Airedale & Wharfedale Network is ready for steadfast service in Train Sim World 7! Aboard modern Northern traction, operate across a variety of lines that converge into two major cities: Leeds and Bradford.

Today’s network started in 1846 with the Leeds and Bradford Railway linking the two historic cities, and extending through the industrious hills to Skipton the following year, forming what is now known as the Airedale Line. The Midland Railway and the North Eastern co-owned the 1860s-built line to Ilkley, which would eventually form part of the Wharfedale Line. They have come a long way since, with the combined network being one of the busiest outside of the South East.

Become a driver or conductor aboard Northern services across the West Yorkshire Metro, and shuttle commuters from the scenic suburbs of Skipton and Ilkley into the bustling cities of Bradford and Leeds.

Drive the brand-new Northern BR Class 331/0 and 331/1, discovering a 54-mile network featuring; Airedale & Wharfedale Lines from Leeds & Bradford Forester Square to Skipton & Ilkley, the Rylstone Quarry Branch, Neville Hill Depot and Leeds Aggregate Terminal. You'll also experience 19 detailed stations along the network, with authentic Northern furnishings and audible passenger announcements.

Get a taste for express services with the LNER Class 801 Azuma, serving the network at key points throughout the day, included with the route!

No two shifts are the same, as train diagrams swap routes constantly throughout the day. Take on full end-to-end freight services; pick up limestone from Rylstone quarry and transport it to Leeds for processing.

Northern BR Class 333 EMU

Make a splash with extra Northern variety as you swim through the scenic rails of Yorkshire; the bowl-like Class 333 is ready for Airedale & Wharfedale business in Train Sim World! A Leeds staple for 20+ years, take charge of an iconic commuter unit on Skipton shuttles, Bradford-bound runs and Ilkley locals.

Introduced in 2001 to add a modern fleet to the recently electrified network sprawling out of Leeds and Bradford, a total of 16 BR Class 333s were built to revolutionise service on the Airedale & Wharfedale lines.

Originally delivered as 3-car units, they were quickly extended to 4 to maximise capacity on some of Northern England’s busiest commuter services.

Drive or conductor aboard the now-classic and recently refurbished Class 333 units, complete with their distinctive fishbowl-like cab design. Work alongside the supplementary Class 331 fleet on a variety of passenger duties, wading across all corners of the West Yorkshire Metro.

Our audio team have been delighted to work inside the Neville Hill depot, located for you to find on the Airedale & Wharfedale Network, and source authentic and accurate sounds for both the Class 331 and the Class 333. We're thrilled with the support from Northern supporting this audio sourcing, and we hope you can hear the immersion in the sounds we've created.

Recapping our UK experience, you'll be hopping aboard a full network from Leeds & Bradford - Skipton & Ilkley, driving the new Northern BR Class 331, getting both the LNER Class 801 Azuma and Class 66 as included stock, alongisde a new HYA Limestone wagon, with Deluxe offering the iconic Northern BR Class 333.

Florida Tri-Rail: Miami Airport - Boca Raton

Ride the rails of Florida for the first time in Train Sim World 7, taking charge of Tri-Rail services under the dramatic coastal sun, and carry cargo with CSX power, as you surf through South Florida between bustling Miami Airport, and Fort Lauderdale to Boca Raton.

Starting life as part of CSX’s Miami Subdivision, the rails of South Florida first played host to Tri-Rail services in 1989, adding a regular commuter flow through the suburbs north of Miami. Initially only a temporary measure while I95 was widened, ridership numbers demanded the service be made permanent.

With many upgrades over time, including line doubling and station rebuilds, the line now serves around 30,000 passengers a day. In TSW7, you'll be getting over 45 miles covering Miami Airport to Boca Raton, including many local freight yards and delivery points, and visiting 13 detailed and authentic stations as you go.

Climb up to the cabs of modern and iconic diesels, in tandem with double-deck equipment, to shuttle passengers from Boca Raton, via Fort Lauderdale to Miami Airport. Swap the seats for hefty tonnage and embark on local freight duties as a CSX engineer, switch cars and make local deliveries through the Miami suburbs.

You'll also notice that trains approaching the Metrorail Transfer going south will always have a red light until cleared to cross the FEC line, and the last service of the day will always be a double formation, helping keep the true real-life operations authentic.

Tri-Rail GP49H-3 Loco

Put additional equipment to work across the rails of Miami with the Tri-Rail GP49H-3 for Train Sim World 7! Hired for supplemental commuter use, add a timeless twist into the mix as you go highball against the mainstay of Florida’s fleet aboard a rebuilt relic.

Tri-Rail’s fleet of GP49H-3s were introduced as rebuilt ex-Norfolk Southern units, upgrading them with Head End Power to be put to use on their daily commuter schedule out of Miami. Half a dozen entered service in 2006, although with the later arrival of the BL36PH, they have been gradually phased out, kept on the side for maintenance use and as a backup to the main roster.

Take control of the iconic “Geep”, deputizing on Tri-Rail passenger services in place of more modern equipment, adding retro power and a classic cab to the commuter sprawl of South Florida. Also haul extra traffic, such as ballast trains, as the demand of the railroad requires.

If you watched our recent Dovetail Direct, we heard from our audio team, Adam and Rhys, on their journey out to Miami to capture the audio on these locomotives.

Recapping our American experience, you'll be operating the new Tri-Rail Florida route, from Miami Airport to Boca Raton, with the Tri-Rail fleet, including the new BL36PH, the F40PH-3C as well as the Rotem Cars (coming with two distinct Tri-Rail liveries). You'll also find the CSX SD40-2 & GP38-2 both included with the route, and additionally the Dura-Max Rock Hopper car, and deluxe adding the final piece, with the Tri-Rail GP49h-3!

Bahnstrecke Nürnberg - Würzburg

Wind your way around the low peaks of Bavaria on thrilling long-distance and speedy regional services; varied action awaits along Bahnstrecke Nürnberg - Würzburg! Venture through valleys aboard continental commuter units and ICE traffic galore on a scenic sprint from city to city.

Built as a shortcut to bypass the lengthy Ludwig South-North & West railways, the new line via Neustadt (Aisch) opened to traffic in 1865. Despite a reluctant state interest in the line’s existence, it quickly became one of the busiest lines in Germany, and has seen many upgrades to become the regional, intercity and freight corridor it is today.

This route offers the new DB BR 440 EMU as a modern option for regional express workings or shuttling between towns and cities on the Nürnberg S-Bahn’s S6 line.

This route gives you a chance to push your speed, with a huge 100km+ length fo track from Nürnberg Hbf to Würzburg Hbf via Neustadt (Aisch), and including Nürnberg Rbf. As you fly across the countryside and cities, you'll find yourself at 19 different stations along the route.

Why not swap the DB red for cool and classic ICE traction, with the included DB BR 401 ICE 1, running non-stop, but keeping it real with varied signals and speed limits.

Or vector in-between the passenger flow with modern Vectron power on varied freight operations, as you'll also be given the DB BR 193 Vectron included with the route.

Bringing the ICE 4 to Nürnberg - Ingolstadt

As a bonus note, on release of Train Sim World 7, we have added a new duplicate timetable that brings the ICE 4, with new services and replacing the Nürnberg S-Bahn Talent 2 trains from the Nürnberg - Würzburg core route!

The patch will also come with added further timetable services in Nürnberg, as well as various other art and rolling stock fixes that where highlighted by the community during launch.

Now, for those of you who tuned in to last year's Direct, we've heard your call. Finally, we're bringing in one of TSW's most requested trains - of course, it's the...

DB BR 412 ICE 4 High Speed EMU

Accelerate across high-speed German rails in style with the ultra-modern and fan-favourite DB BR 412 ICE 4, making its grand debut in Train Sim World 7! From its unique appearance to its efficient, speedy service, the ultimate express journey awaits between Nürnberg, Würzburg, and beyond.

Manufactured by a consortium of companies, the ICE 4 first entered service in 2016, representing the next generation of intercity trains for Germany. DB replaced many older trainsets across their long-distance fleet with the new DB BR 412, absorbing IC services into ICE, and relieving last-gen ICE trainsets that were also reaching their limit.

Their widespread use has made them a common sight with well over 100 in operation. In Train Sim World 7, you'll have both 12 and 13-car variants included.

Enjoy all the creature comforts of an ergonomic and stylish cab and admire its striking crescent character as it cuts across the countryside.

Recapping our German experience, you'll be exploring the Bahnstrecke Nürnberg - Würzburg, connecting the journey from our previous TSW Add-ons at Nürnberg and at Würzburg, and giving you over 100km of track to operate the new DB BR 440, alongside a host of included stock, such as the DB BR 442 Nürnberg S-bahn, DB BR 401 ICE 1 and DB BR 193 Vectron, with Deluxe granting the most requested loco yet: The DB BR 412 ICE 4!

Train Sim World 7 All New Features

Train Sim World 7 brings a huge new host of features and settings, ready to take your experience to the best it possibly can be. Freight fans, we hear you - and if you've been reading carefully, you'll notice all of our core routes and content above has a great tie-in with freight, which is brought to life in our brand new game mode: Freight Hauler!

Keep reading, as our list of features and new updates extend out to improving the visuals, upping the immersion, broadening how you control the trains, and bring much-requested quality-of-life to the core game that we know will make TSW7 feel that much more satisfying to play.

New Game Mode: Freight Hauler

Find new ways to cart cargo with Freight Hauler. Marshall freight to its destination free from instructions or schedules. It’s your choices, your strategy, as freight cars populate the route, each one looking for a home.

We consistently build Train Sim World using your input, and from our recent player surveys, we've heard that increasing the gameplay around freight has been one of the highest requested modes we can develop next, so we're hoping you'll enjoy!

Switch, shunt and haul them all as you see fit - Freight Hauler is less of a guided experience, and really opens the floor for you to build you own strategy and process for moving the cargo.

You will have complete control over how many cars are in the session and therefore how long it will take to complete as well as all the normal time of day, weather and layer settings you get in Timetable mode. You can also choose to run with no traffic.

You'll be given an overview, and the option to inspect freight using the live map, to understand what freight needs moving, what type of freight it is, and where it needs to be (wagon-JD will sadly not be available).

The mode is considered complete once everything is in the right spot. Utilising Free Roam controls, pull in anything from your collection that'll get the job done, and do it your way! Once you're finished, catch a debrief screen and get a summary of your session.

As a note, newer routes have been optimised to work with Freight Hauler mode by disabling freight layers and will be marked as compatible. Older timetables will still support the mode, but we recommend that you manually disable freight layers for a smoother experience. If a train does end up in your way, you can simply remove it using the provided free roam tools.

Live Weather

The forecast calls to you with Live Weather, have in-game weather powered by real-time location-specific data, getting you deep into the action exactly as it’s happening out in the World. The next job awaits, no matter the meteorology.

Play your favourite routes and trains, across scenery that feels much more dynamic than ever, with weather than updates and syncs with real time, exactly where you're driving. This will be synced with the current weather data as you drive, so if you're playing any older era-specific Add-ons, you'll be given the weather as it is at the time of playing.

Additionally, the weather systems have been updated to gradually switch between conditions in a way that feels smoother than before, to ensure that the weather you do see, has a developing and natural feel.

As a note, to utilise this feature, you are required to log into a DTL (Dovetail Live) account, so that we can sync your request straight to the weather information centres.

Beginner Controls (Or "Simplified Controls")

As a completely new toggle-able setting, built for easier driving and available for Free Roam and Timetable services, Beginner Controls allows anyone to experience Train Sim World and driving complex locomotives at the push of a few buttons, offering an alternative way to play.

Beginner controls are an excellent choice for players wanting a more casual experience or an easy way to jump in and play for the first time. This will completely remove the need for setting up the cab and instead allow you to focus on the driving experience.

This can be enabled by selecting Beginner mode when starting the game, or toggled at any point in Settings. For players wanting a more realistic experience, those options will still be there, and beginner controls will have no impact on your gameplay.

This feature should really open the doors to allowing TSW to become much more accessible, whilst also ensuring that our priorities remain focussed on providing the best simulation experience we can. We believe that beginner controls will also make it easier for people to take that first step into Train Simulation, and later allowing players to progress onto realistic controls should they wish to.

Beginner controls can be used with a mouse and keyboard or a controller. This will be supported by a new simplified interface allowing access to common controls via a mouse click. All trains will be compatible at launch using simplified physics and sound.

Epic Quality Settings for PC

Take things beyond Ultra with an all-new “Epic” settings level, taking better advantage of modern hardware by extending draw distances and improving shadow quality.

High-end PC owners can now push the games graphics further than ever before with Epic Settings. We designed these settings to get the best image quality out of the game with no comprises. Pop-in will be a thing of the past with extended draw distances, increased LOD range, and extended shadows.

Take a look at a before & after comparison video below from Jetwash!

New Graphical Improvements

On top of that, Train Sim World 7 now runs on DirectX 12, supports DLSS 4.5 adding DLAA and upscaling, as well as FSR 4 for upscaling and frame generation.

DirectX 12 will become the default, allowing for greater efficiencies, and compatibility with newer hardware. In some cases, this will also boost your average frame rate.

DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4 allow the game on PC to take a lower resolution input and reconstruct it back up to the native resolution of your monitor using machine learning. This will boost image clarity, increase perceived detail, and reduce ghosting/shimmering on sub-pixel detail. All together it makes for a much cleaner image and more pleasing image.

At the high end this will provide DLAA and Native AA which will provide the best image quality without reducing the internal resolution.

Frame Generation on PC can make motion appear smoother by interpolating generated frames between those rendered by the graphics card natively. This will increase input latency and may result in minor visual artifacts, but the results are often convincingly smooth. The higher your base frame rate the less noticeable artifacts will be. Coupled with frame rate limit you can consistently hit without frame generation this can often double your perceived frame rate.

Safety Systems 'On By Default' Setting

Take things a step further with enhanced realism by enabling safety systems by default! Now, should you choose to, step into the cab and find that the likes of AWS, PZB and more are already enabled - which is often the case for taking over trains - or keep things as they are if you prefer a relaxing run or still want to enable them yourself.

Additional QoL Improvements

Alongside these great improvements, we've additionally got a further range of supportive and quality-of-life changes that further make TSW7 the best edition to date.

Train Sim World Seasonal Update Roadmap

Helping give all players a better vision of where we're taking Train Sim World throughout the year, we're hoping to revisit how we approach key milestones during the year. We're calling this our Seasonal Updates Roadmap.

The goal is to give you more awareness through key moments, sharing large updates, improvements, new announcements, community-requested features as well as tie in mastery and much more into a single moment you can look forward to throughout the year.

We'll still have our normal cadence of patches between these seasonal drops, so that won't change - and whilst our plan above doesn't go into the full specifics just yet, you can expect big things in our Winter and Spring seasonal drops (Perhaps a special birthday coming up?).

Any news and details we can share for these events will be voiced in our monthly TSW Roadmaps, so for now, hopefully this gets you a clear picture of what to expect soon!

Upcoming Livestreams & Previews Next Week!

Exec Producer of Trains, Matt, and Senior Community Manager, Alex, will also be live tonight, Thursday August 27th, to share the full TSW7 Roadmap, details from the Dovetail Direct: Summer 2026 event, and answer your questions live!
