The true king of the kart racer, Garfield the unendingly hungry cat, is ripping into Nintendo's decision to effectively kill Mario Kart Tour. This week, Nintendo announced that its seemingly successful mobile spin-off, Mario Kart Tour, would be shutting down after an almost seven-year run. The entire game and all purchases people have made will be scrubbed come late September, and Nintendo doesn't plan to release a version that's playable offline, as they did for Animal Crossing's mobile experiment. Along with Mondays and going to the vets, Garfield seemingly hates the idea of digital games and purchases simply evaporating into a virtual void at the behest of corporations. And he made that loudly clear on social media. "This is why Garfield Kart is better," the Garfield Kart Twitter account writes in response to Mario Kart Tour's impending doom, "we will not randomly kill your game license." The orange feline also boldly proclaimed that Garfield Kart is "better" than the red plumber's racing series, too - an opinion I'm sure won't be divisive at all. Garfield Kart had heat for everyone in the replies, as well. He is a grumpy cat, after all. Responding to one account that took issue with Garfield's trans advocacy, Garfield Kart pointed out that Nintendo has also been pretty queer-friendly as far as big video game publishers go. The only diss Garfield Kart didn't directly dispute is that Garfield Kart is "ass." All the account could tweet is that people should "please play [Garfield Kart: Furious Racing] and not the original." Amusingly, Furious Racing is well loved and one of the best-rated kart racers on Steam, but it's not even the most recent Garfield Kart game.
