Developer Notes #15

Greetings, Star Guardians. This is PD Koo of .It is a pleasure to greet all of our Star Guardians once again through our fifteenth Developer Notes. In our previous Developer Notes, we focused on addressing the topics that received the greatest amount of feedback during AMA Season 2. In this Developer Notes, we would like to continue by addressing the remaining topics that we have been reviewing since then.Once again, we sincerely apologize for not being able to respond more quickly to every inquiry, despite receiving more than 600 valuable pieces of feedback from all of you. Please know that our development team is carefully reviewing every comment we receive, and we will continue to share updates on topics we are able to address through future Developer Notes.■ Quality-of-Life & UI ImprovementsThrough this AMA, we received a wide range of feedback regarding quality-of-life improvements. In particular, many Star Guardians shared that the large amount of damage text displayed during combat made it difficult to clearly recognize boss patterns and effects.✦ Damage Text Visibility ImprovementsWe fully understand the feedback that the large amount of overlapping damage text displayed during combat can make it difficult to identify important boss patterns and effects. We are currently working on improving the visibility of effects that are obscured by damage text, and this improvement is scheduled to be applied with the Version 1.7 update. We will continue working to provide a more comfortable combat experience.✦ Clarifying Skill and Combined Attack DescriptionsWe have also received a significant amount of feedback regarding skill descriptions that do not match their actual behavior, as well as the lack of in-game explanations for Combined Attack mechanics. As mentioned in our previous Developer Notes, we are currently preparing to add more detailed in-game explanations for Combined Attacks. As a first step, we plan to reinforce the in-game guidance covering the basic rules of Combined Attacks. We will then continue improving the in-game guidance so that areas causing confusion can be understood more clearly. In addition, we will continue correcting skill descriptions that are inaccurately displayed.✦ Adding Item Favorites & Quality-of-Life FeaturesWe are currently reviewing a variety of quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to register frequently used items, such as Platinum Ore and consumables, as Favorites for quicker access. We are also reviewing features that allow players to view detailed item information when salvaging equipment, as well as a checkmark indicator on the Engraved Equipment crafting screen to help identify Engraved Equipment that have already been crafted. These improvements will be introduced gradually according to priority.■ Future Combat & Gameplay Improvements✦ Time Attack Starting Position AdjustmentsWe have received feedback that the time required to reach the boss when attempting Time Attack Leaderboards differ depening on the platform, which affects competitive fairness. Our development team understands these concerns, and we are currently reviewing adjustments for Boss Challenge content, such as ‘「Corrupted」 Guardian Golem’ and ‘「Corrupted」 Warden Orgot’, so that players begin directly in front of the boss. However, as this requires coordinating with existing content in the area, such as Viewpoints and Treasure Chests, it will be difficult to implement this change in the short term. We will share more detailed information regarding the implementation schedule once the plans have been finalized.✦ Feedback Regarding Time-Limited Content: Requests to remove time limits from end-game content to make it more accessible for casual players.Currently, clear time limits are only applied to Raids. For existing Boss Challenge content, the time limit has already been removed, and we are seeing that many Star Guardians are successfully clearing this content without significant difficulty. However, we believe that excessive fatigue from attempting to clear Raids every week is not conducive to a positive long-term gameplay experience. With this in mind, the clear time limit was introduced to encourage players to challenge end-game content at an appropriate difficulty level after achieving sufficient character progression. While we could have restricted entry for teams below the recommended Combat Class, we chose not to do so. Instead, we wanted to leave room for players to overcome a slight gap in progression through their own skill and mastery. At the same time, the time limit serves to encourage the level of progression needed to take on these challenges while helping to prevent excessive fatigue. That said, the newly added \[Hell] difficulty introduced with this update is intended to provide a more accessible way to obtain weekly Star Fragments. We will continue monitoring clear rates and will review the clear time limit again based on those results. ✦ Knighthood Boss Battles: Strengthening Co

Developer Notes #15

Greetings, Star Guardians.

This is PD Koo of .

It is a pleasure to greet all of our Star Guardians once again through our fifteenth Developer Notes.

In our previous Developer Notes, we focused on addressing the topics that received the greatest amount of feedback during AMA Season 2.

In this Developer Notes, we would like to continue by addressing the remaining topics that we have been reviewing since then.

Once again, we sincerely apologize for not being able to respond more quickly to every inquiry, despite receiving more than 600 valuable pieces of feedback from all of you. Please know that our development team is carefully reviewing every comment we receive, and we will continue to share updates on topics we are able to address through future Developer Notes.

■ Quality-of-Life & UI Improvements

Through this AMA, we received a wide range of feedback regarding quality-of-life improvements. In particular, many Star Guardians shared that the large amount of damage text displayed during combat made it difficult to clearly recognize boss patterns and effects.

✦ Damage Text Visibility Improvements

We fully understand the feedback that the large amount of overlapping damage text displayed during combat can make it difficult to identify important boss patterns and effects.

We are currently working on improving the visibility of effects that are obscured by damage text, and this improvement is scheduled to be applied with the Version 1.7 update. We will continue working to provide a more comfortable combat experience.

✦ Clarifying Skill and Combined Attack Descriptions

We have also received a significant amount of feedback regarding skill descriptions that do not match their actual behavior, as well as the lack of in-game explanations for Combined Attack mechanics.

In addition, we will continue correcting skill descriptions that are inaccurately displayed.

✦ Adding Item Favorites & Quality-of-Life Features

We are currently reviewing a variety of quality-of-life improvements, including the ability to register frequently used items, such as Platinum Ore and consumables, as Favorites for quicker access.

We are also reviewing features that allow players to view detailed item information when salvaging equipment, as well as a checkmark indicator on the Engraved Equipment crafting screen to help identify Engraved Equipment that have already been crafted.

These improvements will be introduced gradually according to priority.

■ Future Combat & Gameplay Improvements

✦ Time Attack Starting Position Adjustments

We have received feedback that the time required to reach the boss when attempting Time Attack Leaderboards differ depening on the platform, which affects competitive fairness.

We will share more detailed information regarding the implementation schedule once the plans have been finalized.

✦ Feedback Regarding Time-Limited Content: Requests to remove time limits from end-game content to make it more accessible for casual players.

Currently, clear time limits are only applied to Raids.

✦ Knighthood Boss Battles: Strengthening Cooperative Elements in Party Play

We have repeatedly received feedback from Star Guardians requesting cooperative content where players can take on different roles, such as DPS, Tank, Support, and Healer, while tackling challenges together.

However, due to the current team-building structure of , it is difficult to immediately implement a role-based co-op system. Because combat in Origin is centered around skill synergies between heroes within a single team, the current design focuses on each player building a balanced team with heroes fulfilling different roles and adapting the flow of combat based on their own team composition.

As many of you pointed out, distinct party roles can certainly enhance the appeal of party play. However, because content designed around this style of gameplay has not yet been fully considered, it is difficult for us to commit to this direction at this time.

That said, we are preparing the Knighthood Boss Battles planned for the Version 1.7 update to offer their own style of cooperation and strategic party play. We hope you look forward to a new experience of taking on these challenges together with your fellow Knighthood members.

■ New Content Direction

✦ Upcoming ‘Training Grotto’ Content

Through this AMA, many Star Guardians shared their desire for new content. Our development team is also preparing to introduce a variety of new content on a regular basis beyond Raids.

In addition to top-tier content such as Raids, we are continuing discussions on introducing content that supports character progression while also being more accessible for Star Guardians to enjoy.

As a first step, we are currently preparing a new feature called the ‘Training Grotto’, where players will be able to more easily farm the equipment they want based on their heroes’ core performance.

Our goal for this content is to help fill the gaps between major updates while providing Star Guardians with another objective to work toward. We will share more details through a future Developer Notes once everything is ready.

✦ Story Replay Feature

Many Star Guardians have shared their disappointment that fully voiced story cutscenes cannot be viewed again after they have been completed. Our development team fully recognizes the need for this feature and is currently preparing to implement it. We will share more details once they have been finalized.

✦ Minigames and Various Game Modes

We have also received many suggestions for various types of minigames and new game modes. Our development team is also discussing ways to provide a wider variety of experiences throughout Britannia, and our goal is to gradually introduce more minigame-style content over time.

■ Regarding the Pick Up System

✦ Releasing Alternate Versions of Heroes

We received a tremendous amount of feedback from Star Guardians, hoping to see alternate versions of iconic heroes from the original series, such as “Assault Mode” Meliodas and “The One” Escanor.

We are currently preparing to introduce these alternate versions of heroes through future updates.

While we are not yet ready to share the exact timing or release plans, our goal is to introduce them alongside the Main Story whenever possible. We are also preparing to showcase different versions of heroes from the original series through various formats, including Seasonal events. We hope you look forward to what’s to come.

✦ Expanding Free Draw Opportunities

We fully understand the feedback that it is too difficult to obtain desired heroes through Pick Up banners, as well as the concern that the number of summon tickets available each month is simply not enough.

We are gradually increasing the distribution of ‘Star Fragments’ and summon currencies through events, Daily Missions, and various content rewards. Moving forward, we will continue improving the overall supply of these resources so that more Star Guardians can obtain heroes more naturally through gameplay.

■ Character Roadmap & Development Direction

✦ Plans for \[The Ten Commandments] and Other Villain Characters

We have received many requests from Star Guardians who would like to see \[The Ten Commandments] and other memorable villain characters from the original \[The Seven Deadly Sins] series appear in Origin.

Including members of \[The Ten Commandments] and other fan-favorite characters from the original series, we plan to continue introducing playable heroes to Origin through future updates. While we are not yet ready to share the exact timing or release plans, we will continue working to bring the characters you have been waiting for into the game.

✦ Regarding Unimplemented Signature Skills

Many Star Guardians have asked why iconic techniques from the original series, such as Meliodas’s “Full Counter” and Merlin’s “Perfect Cube”, have not been implemented in the game.

To explain this, under the original IP supervision guidelines, a character’s skills can only be used when both the character and their weapon accurately match the corresponding point in the original story. Because each hero’s skills are reviewed based on a specific point in the timeline, certain skills may be restricted depending on the point in the story from which that hero originates.

In addition, some skills are difficult to adapt into the game’s action-based combat system in a way that preserves their appeal. We also recognize that this may not have fully met your expectations. Moving forward, we will continue exploring ways to capture the spirit of the original series through our heroes while meeting the expectations of our Star Guardians.

✦ Ongoing Balance Adjustments for Existing Heroes

We have received feedback expressing concerns that, as new heroes continue to be released, previously released heroes may gradually lose their relevance. Our development team will continue monitoring existing heroes and aims to create an environment where they can continue to be used alongside newly released heroes.

While it is realistically difficult for every hero to fulfill the same role or perform at the same level, we do not intend to focus solely on releasing new heroes. We will continue considering the performance of existing heroes as well, so that both past and newly released heroes can be used together and Star Guardians can enjoy a wider variety of team compositions.

✦ Heroes Without Engraved Equipment

We have also received feedback expressing disappointment that some heroes do not yet have all three of their exclusive Engraved Equipment pieces.

Additional exclusive Engraved Equipment for these heroes will continue to be added through future updates.

✦ Attribute Balance and Tag Skill Improvements

We have received feedback that when heroes such as Merlin consistently perform exceptionally well across all types of content, even without an Attribute Advantage, it diminishes the importance of the Attribute system.

Our development team aims to create an environment where players are encouraged to build and utilize teams with a variety of Attributes. We will continue refining Attribute balance through a combination of new content, balance adjustments for existing heroes, and the introduction of new heroes.

■ Economy & Reward Systems

✦ Adjusting the Purchase Limit for SSR ‘Special Weapon Crafting Blueprints’

We have received feedback that the current purchase limit of one SSR ‘Special Weapon Crafting Blueprint’ every three weeks is particularly disadvantageous for new Star Guardians.

We are currently reviewing an increase to the purchase limit and will provide further details once a decision has been made.

✦ Adding Uses for ‘Elite Tokens’

We have received feedback that, while ‘Elite Tokens’ are obtained frequently, they have limited uses and tend to accumulate over time.

With the Version 1.6 update, ‘Elite Tokens’ can be exchanged for ‘Transcendence Essence’. In addition, they can also be used to craft ‘Tailor’s Stitching Needles’ and ‘Engraver’s Fabric Scissors’.

■ Server & Platform Stabilization

✦ Server Latency Improvements

We are aware that Star Guardians in certain regions, including Europe, North America, and the Middle East, continue to experience high latency and ping-related issues. We are closely investigating our infrastructure and will take the necessary measures to address any identified issues.

We will continue to do our best to provide a smoother environment where all Star Guardians can enjoy Britannia.

✦ PlayStation®5 Bug Fixes and Platform Optimization

The issue that causes the screen to start heavily zoomed in when logging into the PlayStation®5 version has been fixed with this update. In addition, we will continue working on fixes for various PlayStation®5 issues, including the screen becoming unresponsive after searching the Bag and controller-related issues.

We are also continuing our mobile optimization efforts. We are aware of issues such as overheating and freezing, even on high-end devices, and will continue applying improvements with each update. We will not stop optimizing the game until all Star Guardians can enjoy Britannia comfortably, regardless of their platform or device.

✦ DX12 and FSR Support Plans

We are aware that some Star Guardians are experiencing frametime issues while using the DX11 version on PC. As a mid to long-term goal, we plan to add support for DX12.

We are also reviewing plans to bring FSR, which is currently available only on mobile, to the PC version. We will provide a separate announcement once a more detailed schedule has been finalized.

✦ Resolution Scaling Bug Fixes

We have identified an issue where the resolution scaling settings are not functioning correctly. We are currently working on a fix, and we will provide further details through a notice once the fix has been applied.

Because so many of you participated, we regret that we were only able to address a portion of the feedback submitted during this second AMA.

Even if we were unable to address your feedback today, please rest assured that our development team is carefully reviewing every submission. We will continue to listen to your feedback and share updates through regular AMAs.

We sincerely thank all of our Star Guardians who continue to help shape Britannia alongside us. Our entire development team will continue to do our best to build an even better .

Thank you.

Sincerely,

PD Koo
