CD Projekt Red says The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, Geralt's first expansion in a decade, will get a proper reveal next month

We'll be getting our first look at The Witcher 3's upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past, during Gamescom 2026, CD Projekt Red has confirmed. Not only will Songs of the Past be showcased to the public for anyone actually attending Gamescom in Cologne, Germany next month in the form of a "guided presentation," but Geoff Keighley's big Opening Night Live stream on August 25 will see "new information" about the expansion revealed, a press release confirms. Let's face it, it wouldn't take much to provide us with any new information – all we really know about the expansion – not DLC, CD Projekt Red insists – is that it sounds like it'll be pretty substantial, The Witcher 1 remake studio Fool's Theory is working alongside CDPR on it, and it'll be out next year. We've not actually seen any footage yet, just a nice new image of Geralt, so any glimpse here would be welcome. The expansion had been rumored for months before its announcement, but it was still quite a surprise to find out it actually exists. After all, The Witcher 3 is now over a decade old, and it's been over 10 years since its last expansion, Blood and Wine, too. Not only that, but The Witcher 4 has been announced, and while that doesn't yet have a release date, it's fair to say that we're not going to be starved of The Witcher content before long – we even have that remake of the first game on the way. Certainly no one is complaining, though. With Songs of the Past's launch set for 2027, I'd be surprised if we saw an exact release date at Gamescom unless it's planned to arrive early in the year. Regardless, though, it'll be very exciting to have a proper look at it – mark those calendars.
