Just like Exit 8, CAPTURED isn’t sold as a Backrooms game but is heavily inspired by SCP and Skinamarink. Neither is set within one of the hundreds of Backrooms levels, but this title certainly looks like a liminal hellscape. CAPTURED uses lighting, sound design, and the fear of the unknown—everything a good Backrooms game uses to scare its occupant.

CAPTURED has the most intriguing and mysterious story on this list, and it’s one that greatly expands in its sequel. It’s also another anomaly-hunting game, but with a terrifying twist. Entities in this game are truly lethal. If you wanted a game where SCPs are after you as you scan anomalies and watch your sanity meter, then CAPTURED is the best on the market and the scariest on this list.
