ARC Raiders’ Chinese version testing new PvE game mode—and it really should be added globally
With ARC Raiders branching into China, it now has its own region-specific version and team. Separate from the main game, it has many differences that were made to correspond to the country’s rather rigorous laws, but also apparently some pretty cool ideas emerging precisely from these restrictions. As per Insider Gaming, ARC Raiders‘ Chinese version seems to be testing a new map condition called “Rebellion Incident,” where players start off neutral toward one another unless they voluntarily instigate a “rebellion” and become a marked hostile for the entire lobby. This appears to emphasize a stronger PvE approach for players rather than forcing them into a PvP environment with rogue ARCs tacked onto it. First of all, this game is not popular in China, but there is still a group of loyal fans. Then the Chinese server has exclusive modes "Double King" and "Rebellion Incident". I remember someone said that healing grenades and sulfuric acid grenades have also been updated. https://t.co/dHKO3wiosV— Babao (@Babaoisland) May 31, 2026 https://embeds.beehiiv.com/a8d62108-86ed-4039-bf49-44877ba62c15 China apparently has strong stances on “non-consensual PvP,” with games often asking players to deliberately opt into player-on-player action or to stay within a default PvE-focused framework. By having to actively make yourself hostile to the lobby, you’re consenting to the challenge and will have to deal with both players and ARCs you come across. However, as Insider Gaming reports, some Chinese users are describing Rebellion as a “low-difficulty mode” since ARCs are arguably much easier to deal with than other players. This can be a tad boring, to be honest, and with some tweaks to the ARC threat, then perhaps this could be a nice PvE mode with optional PvP for those who feel up for it. Ever since its release, ARC Raiders fans have been asking for a dedicated PvE mode. Since the game is inherently PvP and designed with this in mind, it’s been rather challenging to figure out a way forward for this group of players. However, it seems the game’s Chinese developers may have landed on something quite effective, though we on this side of the world don’t have any real means of accessing it. This version of the game also apparently has another mode, Double Queen, where you fight both the Queen and the Matriarch simultaneously on one map. It’s another interesting, again PvE-focused mode that amps the AI threat and seemingly emphasizes cooperation between players. 0 The post ARC Raiders’ Chinese version testing new PvE game mode—and it really should be added globally appeared first on Destructoid.
