You ready, bub? Marvel’s Wolverine to take spotlight in massive upcoming State of Play

Sony’s big summer 2026 State of Play is officially confirmed, and it’s sounding like it’ll be a hefty one for PS5 gamers. Clocking in at “more than 60 minutes,” this State of Play will kick off on June 2 with a deep dive on Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games ahead of its launch on Sept. 15, likely including gameplay and more details that have yet to be revealed since the game re-emerged last year. It’s easily one of my most-anticipated games of the year, and PS5’s big exclusive for the 2026 as well, so the focus will be there. But beyond the hairy man in yellow spandex, Sony promises that the State of Play will include “updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world,” opening up a slew of potential for some big reveals. The latter half of the year is still relatively empty when it comes to confirmed release dates for 2026, so State of Play will kick off a deluge of date confirmations, trailers, reveals, and more throughout June, which will also include an Xbox Showcase, Summer Game Fest, and a lot more. I do find it very interesting that Sony announced this State of Play almost two weeks in advance. That’s usually not the case, with many State of Play announcements coming just two or three days before they air. This allows for a lot of time for hype and speculation, so take it and run with it, especially since it can be viewed at special screenings in Alamo Drafthouse movie theaters across the US. Feels like it could be a big one. While Marvel’s Wolverine is confirmed, everything else is up to our imaginations. What are you hoping to see? Given the likely marketing deal between PlayStation and Rockstar Games, will we finally see Grand Theft Auto 6 at this event? Screenshot by Destructoid Are we gonna get really wild and see Halo: Campaign Evolved make an appearance during a PlayStation showcase? What about the the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy’s final chapter? Kingdom Hearts 4? Duke Nukem Forever 2? Let the rampant speculation begin. 0 The post You ready, bub?
