Stalk Tamriel anew

You can sink your teeth into many of the changes and improvements in this preview blog.

Class Mastery System
Rewarding those who wish to remain steadfast to their class of choice, the new Class Mastery system introduces a host of new passive skills that play into your classes’ core elements. If you’ve longed to play a “pure” version of your class, this new system offers powerful new tools for doing so. To learn more, check out this preview blog.

PvP Veterancy System
With the PvP Veterancy System, you can earn ranks and unlock new rewards each PvP “season” (approximately six months long). As you gain Alliance Points or Experience Points in the Battlegrounds, Alliance War, or Imperial City, you increase your rank up to rank 100 and earn a host of rewards including currencies, titles, and style pages.

Rise in the PvP ranks

Dive deeper into the Veterancy System in this preview blog.

Challenge Difficulty System
If you’ve long wanted a greater challenge when exploring and adventuring in Tamriel’s overland zones, the new Challenge Difficulty system allows you to choose between four increasingly dangerous difficulty levels. The higher the difficulty, the greater the XP and gold rewards! Furthermore, your choice of difficulty does not stop you from playing with anybody else who chooses differently.

“Enjoy” a more dangerous Tamriel

Find out more about Challenge Difficulty in this preview blog.
Vengeance Campaign
Vengeance returns as a permanent option for your Alliance War campaign choice. Previously used to test various performance tweaks and improvements for the large-scale PvP zone, this unique open-world conflict remains available for you to experience at any time. You can find the Vengeance Campaign in your Alliance War menu. Read a briefing on this latest version of the campaign in this preview blog.

Player Experience Improvements
The team continues to work on improvements to ESO’s core experience with a new wave of additions as part of Update 50. These include a bespoke Golden Pursuits campaign for new players, the Guild Mail tool, the proliferation of Transmute Stations throughout Tamriel’s main crafting hubs, and more.

Thieves Guild Story Questline
Arriving when Season One kicks off on July 8, the Thieves Guild needs your help establishing a foothold within Glenumbra. In this new questline, you must assist Quen as she shepherds the new guild into existence while contending with the dangerous Koldane Cartel. Look for more information about this new storyline as we get closer to its launch in July!

Dynamic Encounters
A new kind of in-game world event for overland zones, Dynamic Encounters are multi-stage experiences for all nearby participating players. With three unique Dynamic Encounters arriving when Season One launches on July 8, be on the lookout for trouble when exploring Glenumbra, Auridon, and Stonefalls—with more kinds of encounters coming in later Seasons, too.

Favors System
Also arriving on July 8 with the launch of Season One, the Favors system is a new way to find adventure in Tamriel. Interact with new posting boards set up by the Freerunners within each Alliance to acquire a daily quest. Each daily quest is part of a larger story specific to the Alliance character who posted it, with 20 unique dailies available for each. Want to know more? We will share more info about this new quest system closer to the Season One launch!

Sheogorath Story Questline
Kicking off July 29 as part of Season One, Noth the Unhinged needs your help as her master Sheogorath, the Lord of Madness, embarks on a new trip (some might say vacation) throughout Tamriel. However, even the Dedric Prince of Madness is not without rivals, and it’s up to you to ensure a safe journey. Keep both eyes out for more details on this storyline in July!

Greater Adventures to Come
Season Zero continues to add new ways to experience Tamriel’s Second Era. Whether you’re a veteran PvPer eager to rise in the ranks, a fearsome lycanthrope ready to begin the hunt, or are simply looking for a more challenging (and rewarding) combat experience while questing, Update 50 has something for you!

Don’t forget, this update also lays the foundation for the start of Season One, but you won’t be able to access those new storylines and systems until later this year. Which Update 50 feature are you most excited for? Let us know via Bluesky, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook.

The Update 50 base-game patch is now live on all platforms.
