Upcoming indie title turns your un-played Steam games into waves of enemies, so I’m screwed
I love a good solo indie dev story, especially when there's some comedy involved. Introducing Game Quest: The Backlog Battler. Are you like me, someone who dabbles in Steam sales and bundles and then never looks at some games ever again, let alone downloads, plays, and finishes them? Then this upcoming indie may be up your alley, or just your worst nightmare.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYijsW5p4F8 Game Quest: The Backlog Battler lets you battle your backlog of games, which is cute enough as it is. But the devil here is in the details, in that "the more you paid" for these games, "the more damage they will do to you (just like in real life)," the description reads. "Fight in an arena surrounded by your well-played spectator games, while the immortal royalty (the games you have never played) lord over you at the end of the arena," solo dev Nic Taylor described on the game's Steam page. "Games you played for up to two hours will attack you in waves - but watch out for flying enemies (high Metacritic score), Platform supported enemies, DLC enemies and Controller Supported enemies; amongst many more!" It's just a hilarious idea, and it's rightfully going viral on social media over the past day or so. Gameplay footage and screenshots show that the games will display your time played, cost, and more, while you do battle with them over the course of the fight. I'm ashamed to admit my Steam account has nearly 600 games. I know that's bad, but I also know it's not nearly as bad as some of you out there. How many do you have in your collection? Are you brave enough to let your backlog all come to life and wreak havoc? Let us know in the comments. You can wishlist Game Quest: The Backlog Battler and even play its demo right now on its Steam page. But be careful if that backlog is a bit burly.
