Terraria State of the Game - April 2026
Greetings Terrarians! How in the world is it almost Summer already?! It feels like 1.4.5 launch was just yesterday... Our team has been head-down working away on post launch support for 1.4.5 and we really think everyone is going to enjoy what is coming soon in Terraria 1.4.5.7. You will get to see a bit more of that in the update sections below in this State of the Game. As it is balance focused, we are certain there will need to be some tweaks in what we assume will be 1.4.5.8 before we can hopefully - at long last - call 1.4.5 done and move on to the wonderful world of Crossplay. We received our Terraria Board Game copies as well, but we haven't really had time to dive in yet. There is so much more in the works for this year, it should be a fun ride!Shall we jump right in and see what this month's SOTG has in store?PC - RE-LOGICTERRARIA 1.4.5.7 - POLISHING THE ROUGH EDGES AND SOME NEW TOYSAs mentioned previously, for 1.4.5.7, balance is the name of the game. What sorts of things have we been looking into, you might wonder... well, for example, we've added some new tools to handle frustrations in combat (aggro, invisible hitboxes, ranges, boss attacks, following on Gastropods shooting you offscreen, for example). We're also giving some less popular items fresh new life, and adding new items for niche playstyles. Of course, there are other places we are exploring, but that gives you a flavor for the scope of what 1.4.5.7 is tackling - and why its taking a good bit longer than the other 1.4.5.X fixes. In the process of our balance work, we have lots of deep and winding discussions about various issues and how best to tackle them. Those discussions spark a lot of other discussions, which lead to things like what we wanted to share with you this month...A fun new minion for Summoners that don't mind getting their hands dirty...Keep your thoughts and feedback rolling in, it is always helpful for us to take into account. Hopefully, we will have 1.4.5.7 wrapped up soon!STEAM WORKSHOP NEWSClick the banner above to check out the Terraria Workshop!Countless Terraria texture packs and worlds await you in the Terraria Steam Workshop! On May 1st the regular monthly update release of tModLoader for 1.4.4 will go live. It contains various bug fixes and some small features. We will continue to update the 1.4.4 version of tModLoader with bug fixes as we work on updating tModLoader to the Terraria v1.4.5 update (Bigger and Boulder). The tModLoader team has spent most of our efforts this past month continuing work on updating tModLoader to the Terraria 1.4.5 update. Last month we mentioned that the initial process of porting the tModLoader code changes to the Terraria 1.4.5 update was complete and that we were ready for experienced contributors to help us. Since then we've had many community code contributions from experienced modders who have answered the call. Work on updating tModLoader to better support several new Terraria features has been progressing smoothly. Many regression fixes and bug fixes have also been made. We are extremely grateful for those willing to help with this process. The tModLoader team will continue to work with experienced modders to progress towards the tModLoader 1.4.5 update. This process as well as any other big changes desired by the modding community for this update will take many months still. There are still many tasks to be done, if you are interested in contributing code for the 1.4.5 update, the 1.4.5 Update Information page has information on how to contribute and what tasks remain to be done. That page also explains how to join the "1.4.5-dev" beta branch. Users can join that beta branch to help identify and report remaining bugs, but please don't expect that version of the game to be stable. We ask that players and modders remain patient as we work on the update. tModLoader will continue to work as expected during this process, but please note that Terraria players and worlds played on the 1.4.5 update can not be migrated to and used on current tModLoader.Modders and users should also keep an eye out for our monthly Steam announcement on the 1st where a complete listing of bug fixes and API changes for this month's release will be listed. The in-game news button on the main menu will direct you directly to the announcement once it is live.We look forward to seeing how mods make use of these new features. As always, if you are having issues of any sort, definitely don't hesitate to check out our FAQ on github or reach out to us at our Discord.TMODLOADER STEAM WORKSHOPThe TML Steam Workshop has over 10,000 mods for you to enjoy! Hello Terrarians!
Another month of keeping stride with the PC side along with working on ahandful of other backend adjustments has been the name of the game on our end. We are really hoping that this enables us to get 1.4.5.7 out as close to PC as possible, and things are looking pretty good there so far! Beyond that, the team continues preparations for crossplay as the next step down the Terraria path. The more we get done now, the better and sooner that can happen!
All that said, let's have a second peek at what the PC section was covering, shall we...

Daybloom... not just for sticking in pots and potions anymore!

Hello Terrarians!
Chris here, lead developer at Paper Fort Games. In this month’s Terraria: The Board Game designer diary, we’ve reached a major milestone; Kickstarter fulfilment is now complete!
Late pledge orders are also on their way, and there are still a limited number of games and playmats available while stocks last; you’ll find more details below.
We’re also taking a moment to showcase the final game in all its glory. If you’ve been waiting on the sidelines, now is a great time to take a look and secure the Kickstarter edition before it’s gone.
Grab your pickaxes and let’s dig in!
---
KICKSTARTER FULFILLMENT COMPLETE
Other than a handful of pending playmat deliveries to backers in some territories requiring special customs clearance, we are delighted to announce that fulfilment of Terraria: The Board Game to Kickstarter backers is complete!
If you recently placed a late pledge via BackerKit, your order will be shipped from your local hub soon. Pre-order details are sent to hubs weekly, and your order will be marked as fulfilled on BackerKit once it leaves the warehouse.
---
MISSED THE PLAYMAT?
Good news; a limited number of playmats remain available for those who missed out during the campaign - grab yours here: Pre-order ⛏ Terraria: The Board Game on BackerKit
Even if you don’t own the game, the back of the playmat features an evocative WoF vs Terrarian scene by the fantastic George Doutsiopoulos - perfect as a desk mat or playmat for your favourite card games.

GAME SHOWCASE
We wanted to take the opportunity to showcase the final Kickstarter edition of Terraria: The Board Game in its completed form. Below are shots of the Kickstarter edition, which includes exclusive modular boss miniatures, foiled cards, dual layer boards, Developer promo packs and more!
You can buy final copies of the Kickstarter edition at Pre-order ⛏ Terraria: The Board Game on BackerKit .
We wanted to include as many of your favourite biomes, weapons, enemies, NPCs and achievements as we could - Terraria: The Board Game contains a huge amount of content and replayability. And yes… there are yoyos!

All of that content is organised using a bespoke tray system, ensuring that everything is neat, easily accessible and quick to set up.
One of our key goals was making player progression feel tangible and customisable; the game features dual layer player boards that allow players to securely slot in gear, armor, and vanity loadouts as they build their character over time. Transparent cards let you see your character change before your eyes!
The game features six iconic bosses, each with unique behaviours, represented with a distinct colour-cast miniature that physically evolves as the fight progresses.
You can get the deluxe edition of Terraria: The Board Game here: Pre-order ⛏ Terraria: The Board Game on BackerKit .

THANK YOU!
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the project and helped bring Terraria into the physical world.
Our goal was always to translate the spirit of the video game into a physical experience, and seeing it in players’ hands has been incredibly rewarding for the whole team.
Until next time, Terrarians!
-Chris and the Paper Fort Games team
