Sony locks in hour-long State of Play showcase this week, and it might be the one we’ve been waiting for
Sony has announced that a State of Play will be happening on Feb. 12, or in just three days as of this article. It's going to be over 60 minutes long, potentially containing major new announcements, DLCs, or revealing to us new information about other in-development titles. While we don't know exactly what will be featured in this new State of Play, a lot of speculation is already being whispered around every corner of the internet. Since it's Sony, we're probably going to see some new first-party titles or games developed in partnership with the company (wink, Kojima, wink). That could include something new and exciting out of Sony's Santa Monica or other studios, but also extra information on games like OD that we only caught a glimpse of last year. We could finally see more of Insomniac's Wolverine. Image via Insomniac Games Naturally, Wolverine stands to be showcased as well, as does the third part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. We've recently discussed Starfield's PlayStation 5 release (supposedly leaked and set for April 7) that could be confirmed on Feb. 12 via a brief teaser of both the port and its rumored 2.0 overhaul. Monster Hunter Wilds DLC is another potential, smaller-scale candidate, as is yet another trailer for Resident Evil Requiem (the final one ahead of its Feb. 27 launch). Naughty Dog could also give us more information about Intergalactic, but from what I last heard, that game is still a ways off (though that doesn't mean a trailer couldn't drop). All in all, we could see a lot of good, exciting games and even some big, heavy hitters from Sony itself as well as partnered studios. An hour is a long time for a trailer- and announcement-oriented showcase, so we're definitely in for a treat no matter what ends up being on display. What do you think we might see, Destructoid?
