Phantom Blade Zero pre-orders officially live at $60, and the Sekiro-esque Soulslike is getting a 20-minute State of Play from Sony next week

Phantom Blade Zero, the exciting action RPG first unveiled during Sony's 2023 PlayStation Showcase, has drawn quite a lot of attention for its Sekiro-style vibes – and we'll finally get to see more of its Soulslike charm later this month. That's right – Sony is dropping a 20-minute-long "deep dive" State of Play showcasing some of Phantom Blade Zero's gameplay on August 17, as outlined in its latest blog post on the game. There's more, though… the studio has also revealed that pre-orders are officially live, along with a brand-new pre-order trailer for Phantom Blade Zero. That pre-order trailer? It's a whopping 11 minutes long itself, highlighting combat, story, and more. It shows off an eye-catching face, too – that of actor and martial artist Donnie Yen, who Sony says "has served as creative consultant for Phantom Blade Zero since 2023, bringing his martial arts and action filmmaking expertise to our combat design to help deliver an authentic kung fu experience." There's also the matter of the actual pre-orders themselves, which are up for grabs over on PlayStation 5 now. The Standard Edition comes in at $59.99, while the Deluxe Edition is just 10 bucks more at $69.99. Phantom Blade Zero will come to PC, too, but as Sony previously confirmed, it'll be at least 12 months (so, a year) after its PS5 release on October 29 this year. That's not so bad, all things considered, although it does mean that those of us craving some new Soulslike action on PC will have to wait a little while until we get it.
