How to get Gunpowder in Windrose
Being a game set in the 18th century during the Golden Age of Piracy, gunpowder is just as important as gold in Windrose. It is an invaluable currency that is necessary to operate any long-range weapon, and given just how powerful they are in this game, you're going to want to use them nine times out of 10. But obtaining gunpowder isn't something the game explicitly explains to you, especially not in the early stages of the game. Once you run out of that first batch you spawn with, you're more than likely to find yourself forced into melee combat. Thankfully, there are ways around this, so here's how you can get gunpowder in Windrose. How to obtain Gunpowder in Windrose Gunpowder is easily obtained from enemies and crafting. Screenshot by Destructoid The quickest and easiest way to obtain gunpowder, most usually spawning as Homemade Gunpowder, is to hunt Blackbeard Pirates that spawn in camps on islands near the first location you spawn at. Simply unlock the small boat and sail to the nearest island to you, you're more than likely to find several Blackbeard Pirate camps where enemies respawn after a while, meaning you can more or less farm gunpowder from them. They can either drop the gunpowder themselves, or you can get a guaranteed drop by opening the Supply Cache in these camps, netting you six or seven gunpowder per cache. Of course, like most things in Windrose, gunpowder can also be crafted, though killing pirates seems to be much, much easier considering the AI isn't that smart and can be parried rather easily. These camps also drop the two-handed sword, which will make short work of any pirate that you come across. If you still want to manufacture your own gunpowder, you're going to need to unlock Millstones first. To do so, you'll need to discover Corn in the Foothills area of the game, which you will arrive at by following the main story. To make Millstones, you need 15 Wood and one Millstones part. Then, to make the gunpowder itself, you need 10 Sulfur and 20 Ash. The former is found in the wild, while Ash is produced by the charcoal burner and in quite substantial quantities at that. Each batch of gunpowder nets you 10 Homemade Gunpowder, or just about the same as raiding a Blackbeard Pirate camp once. A lot of effort for not that much gain, if you ask me.
