I found them for the first time when trying to look for Bismuth. The enemies disguise themselves as Bismuth Ores, and I found them near the Drakesfall Castle towards the north of Hernand. There's a nearby Abyss Nexus near the castle. Drop in and farm as many Abyss Cells as possible. Next, wait for a few more days, and then use the Nexus to drop in once again and get more Abyss Cell. This is by far the best location and method to get Abyss Cells. That way, you'll be able to get Abyss Cells and Bismuth. While Abyss enemies don't guarantee Abyss Cells, they're fairly common (but the enemies appear to be quite rare).
