Destiny 2’s last planned patch delayed after colossal Bungie layoffs, even as pervasive glitches remain

Destiny 2‘s last scheduled bugfix has been delayed in the wake of yesterday’s brutal layoffs at Bungie, the studio confirmed today. This still leaves some potentially complicated bugs in the game for the time being, as well as other issues. The confirmation for the delay came through the official DestinyTeam accounts on social media, which also said some of the fixes were from team members affected by the devastating layoffs on Thursday. It’s “not a forever delay,” however, and the team will get the patch out “when possible.” The sudden ceasing of Destiny 2 development gave devs little time to address some of the issues with the game’s final update, Monument of Triumph, and it’s impressive that the team could tackle as many issues since the update released on June 9. With the end-of-service announcement, however, Bungie said particularly troublesome items could be disabled rather than fixed, presumably since there wouldn’t be enough resources to find a solution.https://embeds.beehiiv.com/a8d62108-86ed-4039-bf49-44877ba62c15 The Botza District isn’t the only thing in ruins. By using Divinity to hit the boss’ shield generators, players can create a cage and bypass its immunity shield altogether, hitting it without doing mechanics. The team was looking into a fix, but the constrained timeline meant they may not have found the solution in time. In that case, Bungie was “running through the pros and cons” of disabling Divinity in the Insurrection Prime Pantheon. The pervasive glitch joins a slew of other bugs the team was looking into, such as the kills barely healing the Primeval in Gambit or Vanguard reputation gains being far lower than intended. In those cases, the response was a heartbreaking “cannot promise a fix,” likely because of the deadline. With Monument of Triumph, bugged interactions let players bump several bosses off ledges or stack artifact perks to deal absurd amounts of damage. The studio let it ride for a bit before ultimately fixing it this Tuesday, allowing guardians to have some over-the-top fun, but it will still take some time before fans get the next patch. The depth of Bungie layoffs means far fewer resources, and that’s even before factoring in the emotional impact on those who remained. 0 The post Destiny 2’s last planned patch delayed after colossal Bungie layoffs, even as pervasive glitches remain appeared first on Destructoid.
