Bounty Pack 4 detailed and Story Pack 2 teased in latest Gearbox DevCast

Hosts Andrew Reiner and April Johnson chatted with Senior Game Designer Kyle Smyers about the new content coming to Borderlands 4, and as always, there's plenty of exciting news to digest:

• Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions and Vault Card 4 will be available in two parts for separate purchase when the Version 1.9 update goes live on July 30:

  • An all-new Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker**

  • Bounty Pack 5's narrative mission content and Vault Card 5

• In case you missed it, the debut episode of Borderlands: Dead ECHOs, Gearbox’s first scripted narrative podcast, started its weekly run of darkly comedic drama set in the chaotic Borderlands universe! Listen to the first episode via YouTube, Spotify, Amazon, Apple, iHeart Radio, and Pandora!

Levaine, leader of the Electi, has been contacted by an unlikely group of potential allies: The Flock, a commune of pacifist Rippers who gave up violent slaughter for chill vibes. They've made camp in a polluted desert canyon known as the Toxic Scowl, but now their buzz is being harshed by The Blasphemers, an aggressive group of Rippers who have taken over a nearby Order facility.

In this all-new repeatable mission, help Levaine settle the score between these feuding factions and secure some powerful Order tech in the process. Along with a colorful cast of unconventional Rippers, you'll have to contend with legions of bandits who are even more berserk than usual after having licked copious amounts of contaminated salt.

As Kyle discussed in the Gearbox DevCast, the narrative content of Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions plays with some fun A-or-B choices that can result in different dialogue and altered combat encounters. There won't be any full-blown branching storylines, but you can get a kick out of replaying the mission to try out different choices and fight your way through the outcomes, including aid from different allies during the final boss fight.

When Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions debuts on July 30, players who own it can access this new mission after the first encounter with Levaine in Carcadia Burn during the main campaign. Completing the mission will unlock a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a Vehicle, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin. In addition, you can farm a new boss and three new mini-bosses in the Toxic Scowl for a new Pearlescent weapon and six new pieces of Legendary loot!

• 6 new pieces of Legendary gear:

  • Silver Sliver (Daedalus Pistol)

  • Overconsumption (Tediore Pistol)

While Bounty Pack 4: Murders and Acquisitions represents the new narrative-focused content, Bounty Pack 4: Vault Card 4 lets you earn new desert-chic rewards through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear to unlock! Here's the full rundown of the new Vault Card's unlocks:

• 4 rerollable pieces of Legendary gear:

  • Divided Glow (Order Assault Rifle)

  • Eradication (Vladof Assault Rifle)

  • Stealth & Seek (Maliwan Sniper Rifle)

  • Pressure Kettle (Daedalus Grenade Ordnance)

• 1 Unique Head for each base game Vault Hunter

• 4 Vault Hunter Skins usable by all Vault Hunters

• 5 Weapon Skins

• 5 Vehicle Skins

• 4 ECHO-4 Drone Skins

• 2 ECHO-4 Attachments

Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly Challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards). Once you own a Bounty Pack's Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP!

FL4K is back! Ahead of its September 10 launch, we shared a teaser for Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort, with the unmatched beastmaster continuing The Hunt on Kairos and tracking down their missing skag companion Mr. Chew. Their pursuit has led to a volcanic, overgrown resort on a lush jungle island, which just so happens to be where the Tediore corporation is beginning the early stages of a covert invasion.

Just like how Amara and Zane feature heavily in Borderlands 4's main campaign, FL4K was a playable Vault Hunter in Borderlands 3 who's making their triumphant return on Kairos as the focal-point NPC of this new narrative content. You'll have to wait and see how FL4K has changed in the years since we last saw them, beyond the animal skull and feathers they've added to their hunting attire.

As a quick refresher, owning Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition gets you all of the content from the Bounty Pack Bundle (Bounty Packs 2, 3, 4, and 5) and Vault Hunter Pack (Story Packs 1 and 2), while Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition gets you the Bounty Pack Bundle. Bounty Packs 4 and 5 and Story Pack 2 are all split into two parts that will be available for individual purchase.
