007 First Light speeds ahead of studio expectations with 3 million copies sold in 10 days
After launching to critical acclaim on May 26, 007 First Light has already shipped over three million copies worldwide. This is a “freaking” success “by all measures,” according to IO Interactive’s chief executive, as the game is well ahead of internal targets and on track to make a good chunk of change. As per IGN, who spoke with IOI chief executive Hakan Abrak, 007 First Light has sold well over three million copies since its May 26 release. The executive said he got emotional and even cried once positive reviews started flooding in, earning the game an 88 average score on Metacritic and a 91 percent positive score on Steam. “It was an extremely emotional moment. Like almost seven years. I’m just happy because the team is 10 feet tall,” he said. With three million copies, the game probably netted IOI somewhere around $150 million so far, but given how fast it’s been selling, I’m fairly sure they’ll start profiting very soon. 007 First Light is also set to launch on the Switch 2, which will undoubtedly boost sales even further as the giant casual crowd starts coming in. And IOI by all means deserves the success. The studio’s been putting out bangers for years now, and I think 007 is its crowning achievement. It’s such an incredible game that should, hopefully, spawn its own series of games, if Amazon allows it, of course. And I’m even inclined to say that its James Bond should carry over into films. It’s just that good. 0 The post 007 First Light speeds ahead of studio expectations with 3 million copies sold in 10 days appeared first on Destructoid.
