Guildford Games Festival 2026

Guildford has a rich gaming heritage stretching back to Bullfrog and this small town in the heart of Surrey has continued pumping out great games ever since! The Guildford Games Festival page contains all of the games developed (or co-developed) within and close to the GU postcode area that are available on Steam. This year's Steam festival runs from Monday 16th to 23rd February (10am Pacific).Interested in learning more? Check out the Guildford.Games website! This is the sixth iteration of the event which originally started way back in 2020! Here's a walk back through some of the artwork we've put together over the years:The 2020 event was focused on an idealised look down the High Street over the Surrey Downs, with prominent local landmarks on display. We packed this artwork with a lot of Guildford-themed gaming Easter Eggs.A lot of the buildings around central Guildford have vaulted medieval storage areas below them, so for the 2021 event we set the artwork in the Undercroft, which is a publicly accessible one. We put a collection of Guildford-themed arcades in for some gaming vibes, with a claw-machine stuffed with plushies inspired by some local gaming mascots. The 2022 event was winter themed, the black and white artwork highlighting the usual combination of local landmarks and nods to games made in Guildford both past and present. The previous Guildford Games Festival's had taken place in November, but with the return of the physical event due in February 2024, we postponed the 2023 edition so it could line up with our convention. Both the 2024 event artwork, and the subsequent 2025 event focused on the Guildford.Games mascot. The 2025 event also used a boardgame playing piece theme to scatter local landmarks and gaming-related pieces around the page.Visit the Sales Page to see the inspiration for the recently released 2026 event, which is "Guildford as an isometric game" - whether that be a 16-bit RPG or Populous-style strategy game, once again we've had a great time injecting that combination of local landmarks and gaming-related nods.As you can tell, we're immensely proud of Guildford's gaming heritage: a small area with an unusually rich industry past, present and future. Thanks for taking a look!
