Community Crunch 502: Claim the High Ground
The Araneo TLC is taking shape, and it won’t be long before we can show you what’s been lurking in the dark.Voted in by the community during our Extra Life charity event, this eight-legged menace is getting more than just a touch-up. We’ve been reworking how it moves, how it hunts, and where it fits within the ARK ecosystem, with a focus on making it feel purposeful at many stages of play.Once dismissed as too small to serve as a proper mount, the Araneo is spinning a different story this time around. New saddle designs open up a surprisingly versatile role for those willing to think a little differently. With improved mobility and a new perspective from above, it is stepping into a role that feels equal parts ambush predator and tactical support.Its webbing isn’t just for traversal anymore either. There’s more control behind each shot now, letting you take a gentler approach when the situation calls for it…or make sure something stays put when it shouldn’t be wandering.And, as it hunts, it leaves behind less than you might expect, with each encounter offering more than just a clean takedown.Whether you’re weaving through tight terrain or setting up the perfect drop from above, this is a creature poised to change the way you hunt.Download in full resolutionWe’ve been taking a targeted pass on cave entrances across Lost Colony, focused on improving their viability for PvP.A common piece of player feedback has been that many of these locations didn’t feel worth investing in. With this update, we’re reducing the size of several choke points to create more reliable, defensible positions and open up better base-building opportunities for PvP.As part of these changes, several cave entrances will be adjusted. We’ll list out the affected locations and coordinates below so you can check your spots ahead of time.[color=#3498db]Please note: any structures built directly within these choke points on PvP servers will be destroyed when the update goes live.[/color] If you have anything placed in these areas, we strongly recommend moving it in advance. These changes will impact Official PvP or any Unofficial server with cave building enabledPlayers on Official PvE servers will still see the updated entrances, but existing builds will not be impacted.These changes are currently planned to go live with a major version update on [color=#3498db]April 27th[/color].We recently investigated a series of transfer-related issues, primarily impacting players connecting through EU endpoints. This was linked to intermittent disruptions affecting cloud data services, which prevented some transfers from completing as expected.The issue should now be resolved, and services have stabilised. We’re continuing to work with our hosting partners to better understand what caused the outage and help prevent similar disruptions going forward.During this window, we received a number of reports relating to missing characters, items, and creatures. In many cases, these were not lost, but instead remained on the server the transfer originated from or within the ARK upload.If you believe you were affected, we recommend double-checking your previous server and your upload to locate your character or items.
