Content Up Ahead
DB BR 147 Releasing This Thursday!

Get ready for more German traction arriving to Train Sim World 6 from the Dovetail Games team with the DB BR 147 locomotive, with a modern timetable twist for Frankenbahn: Stuttgart-Heilbronn.

We initially postponed the release and showcase stream for the 147, but now that the Stuttgart patch has been released, we're happy to confirm that the new release date for the 147 will be Thursday 9th April 2026 - that's this Thursday! Community Manager Jan will be being joined by Technical Producer Lukas and special guest Trainsa for a showcase livestream to coincide with the launch on Thursday, too.

Following in the footsteps of earlier locomotive series such as the BR 145 and 146, the BR 147 represents the most recent iteration of TRAXX locos which have been in service across Europe since the late 1990s. Featuring a revised cab design to their elder counterparts, and a more rugged-looking body, the BR 147 offers the latest innovations, with modernised controls, functionality and traction packages, all while offering the same tried and tested versatility. The DB BR 147s are locomotives built for passenger use, capable of 160 km/h and useful on DB Regio services in big cities, replacing older traction on busy lines.

The DB BR 147s offers you the chance to time travel and experience Frankenbahn: Stuttgart - Heilbronn with an all-new 2018-era timetable, in which the BR 147 is utilised on various regional services. Much like the DB BR 111 in the 2000s timetable, the 147 operates in push-pull configuration with either n-Wagens or Dostos, pulling trains to Stuttgart and pushing them to Heilbronn... but not always! Look out for some unique formations in the mix.

Go up against the odds and take on unique operations with a trio of scenarios too; weather woes and convoluted convoys await!

Train Sim World 6: DB BR 147 is releasing on Thursday 9th April 2026 for £14.99/€17.99/$17.99.

Announcing the Great British Railways Class 802 BMU

Starting the roadmap with some new announcements, starting with the Great British Railways Class 802 BMU Add-on. You might or might not remember spotting some familiar Dovetail faces during the Government's unveiling of the new Great British Railways livery for the new nationalised rail service in the UK, where Dovetail Games had the pleasure to work on creating visuals of the new GBR Class 802.

A BMU, or Bi-mode Multiple Unit, can be powered by electricity or by their diesel engine depending on what is required. There will be a power changeover mode included with the Class 802, including a tutorial on how to do this.

We'll have more info on future roadmaps about the GBR Class 802, including what kind of timetable services and scenarios you can expect when it comes to Riviera Line and East Coat Mainline!

BNSF Electro-Motive GP60M Loco from High Iron Simulations Coming Soon!

From the UK to the US, we have an update from the High Iron Simulations crew, who are in full swing with the development of multiple TSW projects. Starting with the BNSF Electro-Motive GP60M locomotive! Here's the latest from HIS team:

HIS: "The GP60M and sister GP60B, rolling stock, and full range of gameplay is largely complete, and in the testing and refinement stage."

"The pack features the GP60M with both its “as built” console control configuration and “Dash 3” rebuilt configuration and in BNSF H2 and H4 liveries, respectively. The GP60B is dressed in BNSF H1 livery. And the pack includes a three-unit articulated “spine” intermodal car, an ex-Santa Fe Ga-series cement hopper in three BNSF liveries, a 3-bay ribbed-side covered hopper in BNSF livery, and an 89-foot auto rack in BNSF livery."

"The Pack promises tons of railroading operations: The timetabled services for Cajon Pass, based on BNSF symbols and consists, include intermodal, manifest, and unit train movements as well as subdivision locals, road-switchers, and turns. Four scenarios are included on Cajon Pass as well as four bonus scenarios on the San Bernardino route! And the pack also provides a Union Pacific layer with drivable services on the BNSF main line and Palmdale cutoff."

Speaking of High Iron Simulations, we've also been provided a further update on their first route...

Southern Pacific Ore Lines: Hayden Branch from High Iron Simulations

High Iron Simulations have also provided a further update for their Southern Pacific Ore Lines, including the rolling stock and scenario info!

HIS: "High Iron Simulations’ first TSW6 route is receiving its final details while locomotive and rolling stock work continues and gameplay development has begun."

"Equipment for the route will include Southern Pacific’s Electro-Motive GP35, SP C30-4 steel bay-window, Magor-built ore-hauling gondola with dumping capabilities, 43-foot acid tank car, and Southern Pacific 56-foot anode flat car."

"GamePlay in the form of timetabled services and scenarios promises the complete experience of operating this famed branch line railroad, from loading copper ore at the mine to road haul, to unloading ore at the smelter to handling outbound copper tonnage!"

Thank you to the High Iron Simulations team for the updates! We'll be keeping you posted on both their current developments, and maybe a sneaky look at their next project in the United States, in future roadmap updates ahead.

Tadami Line: Aizu - Wakamatsu from Union Workshop

Union Workshop are continuing their work on Tadami Line. Development of the route is progressing well, and the team are spending additional time working on community-feedback to implement passenger models that are more representative of commuters from Japan. While the roadmap update is shorter this time round, we do have a bunch of new screenshots to share with you today!

Thank you to Union Workshop for the extra screenshots! Be sure to look out for future updates to the Tadami Line in further communications down the line.

West Coast Mainline: Crewe - Preston from Just Trains

Just Trains have provided us with their next development update for the Crewe-Preston route, focusing on the key area surrounding Warrington, with Bank Quay station, and its four through platforms and two bay platforms acting as the main focal point.

Just Trains: "Warrington is located around half way between Crewe and Preston and is called at by most express services, whilst DMU’s and loco hauled services from North Wales to Manchester and Yorkshire also stop here as they transition from the Chester line via Helsby to the Chat Moss via Newton-Le-Willows. Positioning yourself on the south end of Bank Quay Station is a great way to spend a few hours in the route as the comings and goings are pretty much constant."

"Aside from passenger workings, Warrington offers even more interest when it comes to freight, with three separate yards all seeing considerable traffic 24 hours a day. To the south are Manchester Ship Canal Sidings and Walton Old Sidings, the former is utilised by the Merry-Go-Round coal trains which must reverse here to access Latchford Sidings, where they again reverse to head west to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station. These reversals take the form of both run rounds and drags, with a Class 08 employed regularly during the 1980s for these activities, hauling heavy coal trains between MSC and Latchford. Walton Old Sidings serve to supply wagons for a variety of freight services, including speedlink, whilst the sidings at Arpley fulfil much the same role, with four shunt necks central to the operation of these yards."

"Following the line east out of Warrington towards Latchford reveals a number of semaphore signals around Arpley Junction, with the signal box here featuring a full interior. This railway once formed a through line to Altrincham, however traffic on this route ceased in 1985 and as such, Latchford became a stub used for run rounds and reversals of freight traffic that needed to serve the line to Ditton, the vast majority of this was coal for Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, located five miles to the west, diving directly under Warrington Bank Quay station en route."

"We’re sure you will enjoy spending time driving trains in and around Warrington, though we’d also recommend taking time to do some spotting, you’ll see a whole range of traffic in the area, including passenger and parcels trains, light engine and shunt moves plus a variety of freight traffic, including both coal and steel trains, each of which require shunting in the Warrington area, trip freights also run from the yards at Warrington, with Over and Wharton, near Winsford an example of one of these destinations."

That was a proper mint update from from Just Trains! If you're hungry for more, check out their dev blog on the Just Trains website!

Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg - Ingolstadt from TSG

We have a couple of shorter updates from TSG on their current projects, starting with Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg - Ingolstadt. The route is now complete, so the team at TSG will be looking to show it off next month along with seeing the München - Nürnberg - Express in action!

Neckartalbahn: Heidelberg - Neckarelz from TSG

Originally announced during the December 2025 Season of Reveals, Neckartalbahn: Heidelberg - Neckarelz was met with curiosity and excitement over the return of a much requested loco-type since the last appearance in TSW4; steam!

In addition to the BR 23, TSG are happy to confirm a backdated BR 140 will also be included with the route.

We look forward to further updates from Team TSG in the coming months!

Extension to the Mildmay Line Route Add-on from Incredible Trains

We shared an update last week from Incredible Trains' Johannes, who gave us some insight on the progress of his current project. In case you missed it, here's what was shared:

Johannes: "After what has been quite a chaotic year for me personally, balancing work on Birmingham to Crewe alongside finishing my degree, I’m pleased to say that I’m now back to full-time TSW development."

"With that, I can finally report some solid progress on the extension to the Mildmay line route Add-on. I’ve included a few screenshots of Richmond Station to showcase the work completed so far on the station, which is starting to come together nicely."

"I can also confirm that, for players who own both Great Western Express and the BR Class 484 DLC, there will be drivable Class 484 services appearing on the route. These will be reskinned into London Underground livery, similar to the implementation seen on Great Western Express."

"One of the long-standing issues with the route: passenger spawning, has now finally been resolved. After a lot of investigation, I discovered that the route was using too many dioramas, and due to a core issue, these were preventing passengers from spawning correctly. I’ve now worked around this by duplicating the relevant dioramas into the Mildmay line route Add-on and locally removing the problematic code. This fix will be included as part of the extension."

"While most of my recent work has focused on scenery and station development, my next steps will be to begin implementing TSW 6 features, as well as ironing out the remaining bugs that are still present across the route."

"I’m feeling confident that development is now in a strong position, and I’m aiming to have the extension ready fairly soon so that you can all get your hands on it."

"Finally, do keep an eye on future updates! I’ll soon be able to share details on another project I’ve been working on over the past few months."

Rhein-Niers Bahn from FolezzWorld

Work on Rhein-Niers Bahn is progressing well with the team now shifting focus to the freight aspect of the route, including industrial branch lines as well as detailed yards and the freight bypass line between Rheydt and Viersen.

The team are getting into the final stages of development, which includes gameplay and the timetable. The timetable itself is close to completion, but the team are still looking into creating interesting scenarios that bring out the charm of this industrial yet busy route.

We're very excited to show you more from the FolezzWorld team in future, who are working very hard to create a truly interesting route!

Add-ons Still In Development

We haven't got any updates to share this month for the following add-ons, but they are still progressing well with their respective development teams. We'll share more info on these soon!

  • BNSF Snoot Nose SD40-2 from Adamovic Productions

  • WCML: Milton Keynes - Crewe from All Aboard Studios

  • Freightliner BR Class 70

  • Lisbon Setúbal from VirtuaVia360

  • Cumbrian Coast: Carlisle - Whitehaven from Just Trains

  • DB BR 420 from TSG

State of the Game - April 2026

Today we’re back to talk more about the current status around key improvements and insights about the TSW experience as a whole, where we’ve come in the last month, and a summary of how we’re continuing to support the growth of recent releases, and the title, for the future ahead.

Here’s a quick overview of what we’re covering:

  • Next Steps for Add-on Mounting updates

  • Positive progress on Blurred Texture improvements

  • Improvements coming to the BR Class 90 and Medway Valley Line Add-ons

Add-on Mounting & Blurred Textures

These two issues have been the primary focus of our State of the Game updates so far this year, and thankfully we’re starting to see positive progress fall into our recent add-ons.

Starting firstly with Add-on Mounting, this was intended to release alongside the DB BR 147 last week, however, due to the release being delayed, we’re also looking at how these changes are impacted, and working further on making sure these are implemented as we expect. They won’t align with the DB BR 147’s new release date on April 9th, and instead we’ll continue to look for a suitable window once we’ve concluded testing the changes. The goal with these improvements remains to be lowering the size of dependant content when loading add-ons to avoid hitting the platform limitations on PS5 and help with smart content loading optimisation.

Let’s talk Blurred Textures – looking at our recent add-ons releases, we’ve had great positive results! Whilst the team are continuing to work on improvements that help resolve issues that appear in existing routes/add-ons, we’ve seen almost no reports of blurred textures across all of the 5 releases in March, which is a really positive indicator that the optimisation process we’ve implemented since identifying the issue is helping prevent them from appearing.

In our past State of Game updates, we’ve talked about how these updates are something we need to assess individually for released content, so it’s not a simple core-fix we can update, but seeing the positive progress on recent releases is giving us a good sign that we’ll be on track to help resolve and improvement other areas that are affected.

As a note, we thank you all for the patience whilst we’re continuing our work to ensure that we can keep supporting releases, both existing and new, to a high visual quality that you expect.

Add-on-specific Improvements Coming Soon

BR Class 90 – Feedback and Post-release Improvements

Today we’d like to share an update from both our team and Alan Thomson Simulation regarding recent community feedback on the BR Class 90 Add-on, along with our plan for the next round of improvements and the expected timeline for these updates.

We want to acknowledge the feedback that players have shared since release and thank everyone who has taken the time to report issues and provide constructive comments through our community channels. Your feedback has been invaluable in helping us prioritise the areas that require attention.

The teams are currently working towards two stages of improvements, each with a different timeframe:

Short-term Hotfix Focused on addressing key immediate issues, including a fix for acknowledging AWS / DSD when using controller inputs.

Longer-term Update This update will incorporate broader player feedback and is currently planned to address timetable improvements, Class 90 audio refinements, and issues relating to collision and coupling behaviour.

We appreciate the continued support for the BR Class 90 and the detailed feedback provided so far. While we are not yet in a position to confirm exact release dates for either update, we will share confirmed timings through our usual community channels as soon as they are available.

Medway Valley Line – Status on PS5 Audio Improvements

Last week we also shared an update from both our team, and the Firefly Simulation group, discussing the PS5 audio being inaudible/lower than expected for the Medway Valley Line Add-on, and sharing our current progress.

The team identified that some elements of the 375 audio seemed to be playing at an much lower volume than intended (~1%) on the PlayStation. It wasn’t missing entirely, but due to the low volume, it can appear as if the sounds aren’t playing. For players on PC (Steam and Epic Games) and Xbox platforms, the audio is working as intended.

The Firefly team have attempted a number of fixes since the launch last week, including a build we submitted to Sony, none of which have proven successful in addressing the problem. Due to the audio being present (despite being a lower volume), diagnosing the issue is taking longer to fully understand and rectify, particularly given other platforms are working as intended, but we wanted to share that they’re working closely with their audio technician and with the support of our team, including the executive producer Matt, to help find a solution as soon as possible.

We can’t commit to an ETA for the improvement, but the team are working hard so that this be delivered the moment we can resolve and test the fix, and we’ll work closely with Firefly to ensure we can support the update and share more news as it comes.

Dovetail Games and Firefly Simulations would like to thank all those who’ve supported the Medway Valley Line with positive and constructive feedback, and we’re grateful you those on PlayStation who are waiting patiently for the audio improvement.

In addition to the Class 90 & Medway Valley line add-ons, our teams are also reviewing community feedback for all of March’s releases to support future patches and requested improvements.

Patches and Updates
Frankenbahn: Stuttgart – Heilbronn Update

We released a patch for Frankenbahn: Stuttgart - Heilbronn which included an important timetable update alongside some changes to improve your gameplay experience, such as onboard announcements being added to the BR 423, lighting improvements and various fixes to the PIS system across the route.

Check out the full changelog for all the details, and please continue giving us feedback across community platforms.

We also have our next core update for TSW6 coming in the next couple weeks, and we'll confirm a full changelog of improvements with you all ahead of the release. We'll continue to address further community feedback for Add-on releases and core improvements closer to the time of the patch release.

Southeastern Relay Race Livestream

You may have seen that over the Easter Weekend, a group of content creators got together to complete a full relay race on Train Sim World 6 and Train Simulator Classic. The journey started at London Victoria on the Chatham Main Line in Train Simulator Classic. If you haven't seen it, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube via RichyRail's channel.

The group start their journey southeast with The Flying Southerner taking the reins with a Class 707 stopper to Orpington. Next, was the British Ace who took us on a quick sprint down towards Tonbridge.

At Tonbridge, the journey began the Train Sim World section of the relay race. We were first treated to some DRS Class 20 and Rail Operations Group Class 37 action towards Maidstone from Casual Rail. The ROG Class 37 was then taken charge by TrainSimulatorDriver who continued throughout the remainder of the Medway Valley Line in Train Sim World 6.

From Strood, the relay race then went towards Dartford with TygerWays taking a Class 465 on an interesting service along SouthEastern High Speed. After this, JasonPFC took us back to Rochester in a pink Thameslink Class 700 - I guess you could call it ThamesPINK!

From Rochester, RexTactics took control of another Class 465 on an express service towards Faversham. And, at the end of night, RichyRail continued on Train Simulator Classic towards Dover Priory doing a Javelin ‘test run’.

The whole event contained chaos from start to finish and lasted over 5 hours! And, in future we hope to get more creators involved in these relay races across many routes in Train Sim World and Train Simulator Classic!

The whole event contained chaos from start to finish and lasted over 5 hours! The gang hope to get more creators involved in these relay races across many routes in Train Sim World and Train Simulator Classic!
