My new favorite Pokémon Pokopia creation yet is full of nostalgia for 2 of my favorite 30-year-old franchises

I know, I know. Another Pokémon Pokopia creation that wows you and also kind of makes you mad because it's so ridiculously creative and fun, and you don't have a modicum of that imagination. Just me? No? Either way, this latest and greatest creation is from Japanese YouTuber Emoki, and it's perfect. I've seen numerous videos of people building wild things in Pokopia like 1:1 recreations of the Kanto region from Pokémon Red and Blue, massive Minecraft-like pixel creations, and everything in between. But this one is special. Screenshot by Destructoid Emoki has somehow taken the time, energy, and resources to attempt to faithfully recreate Resident Evil's Raccoon City. And their video showing it all off is just as fun and creative, as they use the game's photo view to walk through their zombie Poképocalypse like giving a grand tour. They recreated several iconic locations from Raccoon City, seen in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, such as the subway, city center, power plant, Jack's Bar, underground labs, and of course, the Raccoon City Police Department (R.P.D.) which has been fleshed out as much as anything. Of course, Pokémon are roaming around PokéRaccoon City like zombies, or the monsters that they are (very few are actually pocket-sized). The video is a jovial way to spend 19 minutes of watching creativity and fun IPs coming together for something unique. The attention to detail is awesome, and as a gamer in their late 30s who grew up with both of these franchises, I can't help but be in awe of the time and effort it must've taken to create it. It also angers me because I will never be able to create anything close to this in the game, or any game, really.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HgVAg-16_4 It's fitting that both Resident Evil and Pokémon are celebrating their 30th anniversaries this year, and this amalgamation by Emoki feels like a wonderful way to celebrate it that doesn't turn the creatures into horrifying zombified versions of their cute selves. But I also kinda wanna see that now, too. The post My new favorite Pokémon Pokopia creation yet is full of nostalgia for 2 of my favorite 30-year-old franchises appeared first on Destructoid.
