Early Access on PC is only the core of The Legend of Khiimori and not the final product. It is a system‑driven rather than narrative‑driven experience (for now). From the width of the steppe…
…through the scorching desert…
…to the top of snow‑covered mountains.
It was quite a ride (pun intended) since the development of The Legend of Khiimori started in 2024. Here are a few things that made us proud, achievements made possible thanks to our strong community:
Over 300,000 wishlists on Steam at launch
More than 54,000 people played the demo during Steam Next Fest in October 2025
Over €500,000 raised on Kickstarter in March 2025
Our first-ever show floor appearance at Gamescom 2025
Featured in the Future Games Show: Gamescom Edition, with 2.2 million views to date
Positive coverage from press, influencers, and content creators
Below is a handy summary of important topics that we’ve partly mentioned before.
System-Driven Survival on Horseback
As you probably already know by now, when we say system‑driven, we mean that we hand over authorship to the player. Instead of being told what the story is, players create their own through interacting systems such as movement, survival, terrain, consequences, and choice. Every decision matters, and no two self‑written stories are the same.
By Survival on Horseback, we refer to the fact that your journey may be a challenging one, as you need to keep an eye on your horse’s health and nutrition. When your horse’s health reaches 0, it will “faint.” At that point, you can choose to load your last autosave or go back to the main menu.
So, make sure you come prepared: collect resources, craft useful items, choose the best horse for the task at hand, and plan your delivery routes wisely.
On top of that, features such as swimming horses and breeding add depth, while spirit combat and corrupted zones introduce an additional layer of excitement.

Horse Breeds
Four horse breeds will be available at the Early Access launch, with more to be added later. You may think of your stable of horses as your party in an RPG, a garage full of race cars, or even an arsenal of weaponry - the right choice matters if you want to succeed.
The Mongolian breed stands for Spirit & Endurance. They resist the elements well, have high health, a brave temperament, and strong stamina regeneration, making them ideal for the Snowy Mountains for example.
The Akhal‑Teke represents Agility & Endurance. They are the fastest horse in the game, while also having above‑average endurance and health, which makes them perfect for the Desert.
The Limousin stands for Balance & Agility. They have the best balance in the game, allowing them to handle unbalanced cargo loads and slippery terrain with ease, for example very handy when riding through a Forest.
Last but not least, the Ferghana breed stands for Strength & Balance. They are the strongest horses in the game, can carry the most weight, and maintain good balance, making them an excellent choice for transporting heavy goods across any Grasslands.
